Since I've seen them and read Desmond's PDF on them, I always wanted to have at least one of them. Here is my first C-shape Connie:

Just two more things to say: 1. It looks even better in the flesh, 2. I love it

    Fantastic watch!
I used to have a cal. 564 C-case I traded for (heavily in their favor, but I had to have it!) Then I was infected by a Speedmaster bite...
Long and boring story short, I still think I O would do it over again, it would be for the EXACT model you have: cal. 754 (going off shaky memory. Is that right?) with sparkle dial and gold bezel.
You may find (as I did) that this will be among the most versatile watches you have or ever will have. It goes with a suit, khakis, jeans, shorts, T-shirt, polo, button up...

NFW dude! We're C-ing a rise in popularity of C-cases.

It's a caliber 751, and that's what we call a linen dial. ;) The serrated bezel is called knurled (coined by Desmond I suspect) and that should be a 168.029 (2 for knurled bezel, 9 for day/date). If it were a date only, it would have a 564 and be a 168.027 (7 for date). The 168.017 and 168.019 are smooth bezels with starburst finishes radiating as if from the center pinion.

I'm sure there's an emocon somewhere for a smiley-face bowing in worship, so consider that inserted here!
I love the knowledge here! Anything to contribute to the absolute punishment of my wallet :)

Is that the correct original finish for the bracelet? Brushed/polished/brushed/polished/brushed? If so, I have some polishing to do....

Nah, totally unnecessary. Worship is going too far. Just send us watches. :whistling: :p

Thank you very much for all your great comments. Dennis is absolutely right in everything he has written.

The watch just came from the watchmaker, so no worries to wear it for some years. :)

Good question. I bought the bracelet separately and it looks refinished. But I would be interested to know if the original finish was "brushed/polished/brushed/polished/brushed"?

Brushed/Sunburst/Polished/Cross Hatch/Brushed. Impossible to replicate outside the factory in Bienne.

Great combo. I wouldn't worry about trying to make the bracelet look NOS.

It's an old watch, let it age gracefully :D

BTW, one of these days I'll be purchasing the exact same reference for the head to head comparison between the 751 and 1021. Already got the 1021 inside a transitional C-case. It has no divider between the day and date. That's usually how you differentiate between the two calibers - no divider = 75x, divider = 102x.

That's a good idea. Shortly after the 751 I bought a 1021 (but with the divider) including the 1040 bracelet. They went to and came from the watchmaker together, but the 1021 didn't do it for me, it had to many little flaws and couldn't shine next to the 751. So I sold it a week ago and I am happy with the decision. Did make pics of course:

    and the 751 again:
    on_goatskin_strap_(1439).jpg

This should give an idea, how they compare.
