Just came across this photo of Buzz hanging out at a bar on what is probably another promotional tour. I thought he was wearing the 50th Apollo 11 in gold, but he appears to have a novel take on a GMT. Is he wearing the gold on one side and the steel on the other? Maybe one is set to Buzztime and the other to Bienne time? How does the clasp work? Does anyone else rock the two watches on the same strap?
He’s been doing this for years. I think there’s a third one on his right wrist as well. There was an article about it on Hodinkee a few years back https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/buzz-aldrin-rocking-three-omega-watches-at-once The double watch is a DeVille Chronograph in Gold and a Speedmaster X33 in Titanium on the X33 bracelet.
That explains it, ta. I suppose if he got creative he could probably wear all 5 Tokyo Olympics Speedmasters around one wrist
I suppose he's earned the right to have questionable fashion sense. My theory is: After losing his flown (landed) Speedmaster, he is now afraid to leave any watches out of sight, so he wears them all wherever he goes.
I do...and I learned it from Buzz. I often wear my Seiko 6309-7049 and my Seiko SRP777K1 on the same strap...
That looks like one of the guys I bought my fake $20 Rolex from back when I was about 18 on holiday... he just casually rolled up one sleeve and hey presto, choose your Sub
How about Chicago? For the record...they would NOT allow me to stand in the window as a display [I asked several times]...only in front of the window...for a maximum of 30 seconds...
