Buying the cheapest Seamaster 300m in the UK, too good to be true?

I've been obsessed with the older Brosnan generation Seamasters for a long time, until a dealer offered me the cheapest new model Omega Seamaster 300m on the UK market (with bracelet).

It's used, without box and papers - but comes with a 12month dealer (not Omega) warranty (for what that's worth). Has some links missing, but fits an 18.5cm wrist, which works for me. The price is £3,100 ($4,159 USD).

Is this too good to be true, or does the condition look okay to you, the experts? Appreciate your thoughts!

It’s not expensive per se if the dealer warranty is genuine that is, but it’s not all that cheap really for a loose one (ie with no box & docs) and certainly not the cheapest on the market. These routinely change hands below £3k on eBay etc. You can get full sets in the low 3s.

I have to ask, if your obsession is with the earlier models, why not look there. These current models are noticeably bigger and wear differently as a result. I’ve had a couple and move them on pretty quickly. The earlier ones are much slimmer. Don't just buy on price.

Oh wait, I now see you were asking about earlier ones in other threads. It would help if you were to provide price information like you have here there too since people can make more informed decisions. If you are comping this against an early Bond, it may be the early Bond is over priced.

Considering how popular the Seamaster is in the UK - I’ve seen more of them on wrists during my visits over the years than Subs - I’m surprised you can’t find more available. Maybe because of the popularity the price is higher there, or people just keep them forever and don’t resell?

Not sure - there are lots available, just for more than £3,100.

You are right - Seamaster is massively popular here. Probably due to the Bond connection, although some of the Royal family and Military also wear Seamasters.

This dealer offering you a warranty: you may have considered this already but who are they? What's their reputation? What's covered by the warranty? I'm honest enough to admit that I'm guessing that this is a co-axial movement and some very good watchmakers simply wouldn't tackle work in there. Please satisfy yourself that what they're offering is more than fine words.

Thanks mate, appreciate the effort to get those links, but they're live auctions, i.e haven't sold yet? I'm struggling to find any UK based full sets in your price range.

I picked up a white one for ~$3000 US about 5-6 months ago with a full-set + straps. If you're patient on forums, you'll find these all-day for sub-$4k US.

That vat tax seems a bear. I paid almost 400$ in sales tax on the white dial speedmaster. Is that about comparable?

Gotta say, that is one major advantage to purchasing big ticket items in Oregon or working out a trade or purchase through this forum.
