Buying advice on Speedmaster Mark II

Good morning everyone,

I’m a long time lurker and found a lot of incredible valuable content here that saved me from some bad purchases and helped me find spare parts.

However this is my first post as I couldn‘t find the information I‘m looking for. A Speedmaster Mark II came up for sale not far from where I live. Looks good at first glance but I‘m unsure about some things. Seller seems nice and friendly but doesn’t really give any information on the watch and claims it’s all original:

First thing that strikes me are the hands. They look too white to be original, you can’t really see the lume on the hands. Seller says there is lume and hands are original. What do you think?
Secondly the bezel - is this an aftermarket bezel or a genuine one? Not sure about the dial as well... what do you think?
Third thing is the clasp of the bracelet. Other Mark II watches have a different style of Omega logo in the bracelet, bracelet itself seems correct though.

Any advice is gladly appreciated. Sorry if this is somewhat obvious to experienced collectors,
I’m rather new to the hobby (addiction). Thank you!!

Dial looks original to me, the crystal is badly scratched, a service crystal is about 90€, the hand look like service hands, the bracelet looks ok, as far as I know the first 1162 had the old clasp wirh the raised logo. Case looks polished to me. Depends on the price, but to me it would be a pass.

kind regards Max

What is the price? Some issues but price is the determining factor. It better be low

Thanks! It’s priced at €1200 obo, so about $1350. The Chrystal would of course have to be replaced, so that adds up. The case obviously has been polished but the brushing is still clearly visible, I guess I could live with that.

Service hands for sure, the crown is not correct as well and the glass as already mentioned is in bad shape but that's not too much of an issue.

The patina is not particularly attractive, so in my opinion the price reflects pretty much the condition and the few problems, now it all depends on if you are looking for a cheap watch or a good example 😀

Some good opinions already and agree with pretty much everything. If it was me I'd be put off by the seller making claims about the hands being original etc. I appreciate honesty and that is lost there already.

In any case I think you can do better for not much more money. Patience is key.

Thanks everybody, I’ll pass on this one. I wasn’t sure about it from the beginning and I feel the same way as @Tet about the sellers credibility. Thanks folks!
