Buying a Lange...

It seems to be quite a challenge to find a Langematik (black dial) in full box papers. Been asking around why is it preferable to buy box and papers; and it seems imminent to have the watch opened only by Lange themselves.

Anyone has an experience buying Lange?

which LangeMatik? Perpetual or big date?
I wouldn’t buy any Lange without box or paper. The market is soft, you can score either for a deep discount. Lange nosedive if not a complete set.

I daily a Grand Lange 1 for a while. Its great.

I would be less fussed about box and papers for these older Lange personally and I have bought and let go watches in both situations.

For these older Lange watches, some of the boxes have actually deteriorated - remember the revived brand is going on 30 years now.
And just like Patek you can get order papers from Lange.

The biggest thing IMHO is whether or not the watch has been opened by a non Lange watch maker for servicing because if it has been opened by a non Lange watch maker than going back to Lange for service can be a shock in terms of what $$$ Lange may charge.

LangeMatk and Lange 1 cost $1300 for service. In-line with other legacy brands.

That would be the base cost without polishing; polishing would be more.
and again, that's if Richemont doesn't detect if some one non Lange authorized has opened the movement.

On the plus side, Singapore likely has a watch maker in country too so that means the turn around time is decent. Say 3 months.
