I always wanted at least one solid gold watch in my small collection, but couldn´t decide what to look for. Over the years my interest and passion for Universal Geneve grow, so I thought a Polerouter de luxe might be a good choice. As I already have an early goldfilled Polarouter from 1954 and a ss black dial Polerouter from 1955 (both with a 138ss bumper movement) I was looking for an early de luxe quite a while. If you go for an gold watch, there should be a gold dial too (at least for me). I personally prefer the older version with bumper movement and straight lugs, because they are rarer and I already have two Genta design Polerouters with curved lugs. Saw the 10234-1 the first time just before holiday, made my mind over the travel and was able to close the deal with a very nice collector just after coming back home.Original hands, dial and crown (!) all in great condition, serial 1.8xx.xxx from around 1956. . Case (stamped twice between the lugs and on one lug) looks so elegant, together with the rose gold dial (without markers) the reflections of light are just awesome!. For sure not a daily beater on the wrist, but very good choice for special occasions. Here a group shot with my two other Polar-/Polerouters, full set from 1954, 1955 and 1956.
This is a really special case, very high quality, substantial in a way none of the other Polerouter cases are
Beautiful. And if you're gonna get a gold dialed watch, the dial better be flawless. And you nailed it!
Great set! UG has just recently peaked my interest, seems like you have some great examples! Hoping my next big purchase will be a polerouter
That´s true. Hard to describe: Really perfect proportions, the lugs look very elegant. And the watch sits on the wrist super comfortable.
