Why would a non-tuning fork movement watch feature such a claps? Having said that, I am, like others, skeptical that an "original" bracelet would feature incorrect end-pieces.

In any case, well overpriced in my view.
What would you consider fair value for this particular watch?

i think it's overpriced.

1k can go a long way in the vintage skin diver market. you can get very nice condition different models in the 6 range.
All said and done, he is selling for $750. I thought it was a bit pricey given degradation of dial and janky looking bracelet, but after searching for other vintage divers, I couldn’t find any w that quality of patina (big tritium fan) on arabic numbers. I had sold a vintage Tudor sub prior and really wanted a Tudor Ranger 9050/0 or a Rolex Explorer 1016, but those can be very pricey. Features of this watch reminds me of them without the massive investment and without having to buy “fauxtina”.

I have never owned one of these, because i refused to pay the premium to get one. that and it's smaller than the usual suspects skin divers of the era. but it does have the sub case.

I still like the look, but even at $6 bills i think it's too much for a watch that's pretty readily available.

Plus, it looks like the size of the zodiac seawolf which wears painfully small for 35mm.

Oof, really hope it doesn’t look too tiny on my wrist. I have smallish wrists and a 36mm Tudor sub looked “normal” on me. If the proportions are similar to this photo, then should be okay.

i'm not gonna tell you how to spend your money or talk you out of it. if you think it's a great alternative to a rolex or tudor sub go for it. i would be lying if i didn't say it looked cool with nicely aged patina

i had a zodiac sea wold no date with the same measurements, and it wore like a 33/34mm watch. it was like a stamp. i have a 7" wrist

It wears like a Seawolf (which I also own both black and white and love). One of my closest friends can’t wear these despite loving mine for the same reasons as above- the bezel makes them wear smaller than they are (but I wear 32mm watches on the reg). If these watches were 38-40mm, they would be thrice the price. I actually like the size and I have 7.25” wrists and wear my bracelets loose at around 7.5.

Nah, your input is much appreciated. Lol that’s why I posted in the first place. My wrist measures about 6”. Worst case scenario if it looks absolutely silly, I can return it for a full refund.

Do you have any photos w different straps other than the bracelet? If I do buy it, I would most likely put it on a nato, beige leather strap, or some color closely matching the patina.

Last bit of information that I received about the watch (which may or may not be true) was that it belonged to an officer of the Naval Special Warfare Command based in California, which I thought was pretty cool.

On another note, thoughts about whether it should receive a light polish or leave as is?

Too late, already polished.

Whatever.
No documentation = no increase in value.

Define light polish. Clean it up? Yes. Don't ruin the patina by hitting it hard with the wheel of death.

Yeah just a clean up. Wasn’t too concerned about value, but do enjoy hearing about who may have owned the watch if the information is available and what it might have seen in its lifetime.

No additional polish of course. This is supposed to be a rugged watch, making it shiny will look ridiculous and make it IMHO harder to resell if you grow tired of it.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Despite some of the drawbacks of the watch that some had mentioned, I went ahead and purchased anyway. Seller shipped it overnight and I received it this evening. I slapped a B&R suede strap on it to pair with the patina. Although it runs a bit fast, absolutely no regrets. Will post some better photos when I get a chance.

Glad you pulled the trigger. Ultimately you can take everyone's opinion into account, but you need to follow your heart.

And an extra like for the coffee nerd book. I think the lume on yours is quite charming and while it’s not the steal of the century, I’d be quite happy owning it.

Yeah, I’m in love with the lume. Haha, great coffee book. James Hoffman knows what he’s talking about.
