    Hey All-

Got a dial which looks it has a few weird bubbles. Is there any hope of repair? Is it really bubbling? Just find another?

Consider them a badge of honor. Character on a vintage instrument. Battle scars, etc.
What year is your speedy? Pretty sure there is nothing you can do that wouldn't ruin the patina. Re-finish is out of the question. You can always look for another dial.
Looks like you have oxidation under the finish. Paint lifts from the metal surface. Like when you see paint bubbling on your car from rust underneath.

You need a teeny tiny pin, a 10x loupe, and rock steady hands. Pop each bubble right in the center and let it slowly deflate. Be careful to wear a gas mask though. There might be helium under each of them, and not just regular old balloon helium but professional watch grade helium, which will make you talk funny for weeks.

I've seen this OMEGAO before. Didn't you pick this up from Time Zone a while back?

My PloProf has bubbels like this all over the dial. It was a common problem with the first generation of dials. There's no fix that I'm aware of. I'd say just leave it be, or source a correct replacement dial (though that won't be cheap). Sorry that I'm not more helpful.

So when a Rolex has a "defect" think spider dial or paint degradation to brown everyone loses their minds and calls it patina and rarity. Why doesn't it apply in this situation? Is it not common enough to be looked at as a manufacturer defect?

(And yes I know omegas go tropical as well)

Because they will be small, painful reminders to the owner of what the value of the watch once was, prior to the (market) bubble bursting. :D

Some may see it as part of the ageing process and describe it as "patinated" (positive connotation)

Others may see it as evidence of corrosion or a manufacturing defect and call it "degraded" (negative connotation)

You pays your money, you makes your choice :whistling:

There's an idea for a moon watch... a dial with meteor impacts all over it.
