Brunettes or blondes: time to question some life choices

    Hello,

I must admit I've been eyeing for a black vintage watch with military style elements for months. Specifically, the CK2444 (W.W.W.) and its interesting "cousin" the CK2400-7 (Suverän).

I generally like the understated, clean, form-follows-function of the 1940s field watch design approach. The CK2444 is the epitome of purist tool aesthetics, and the CK2400-7, honestly, is more fitting to my budget while retaining a lot of the appeal of the former.

On a few occasions I've reached out to ask for advice from OF members. Thanks for educating a novice. You've saved me from making questionable life choices.

And so, my dear watch-enthusiast friends, here I am again. Infatuated with the idea of a great beginning, not knowing if it will lead to anything.

I was looking for my usual types, the brunettes, when suddenly a stunning blond caught my eye. It's the look, it's the cut-the-BS Arabic numerals, it's the allure of time suspended in air.

Is this madness, is this mid-life crises? Help me get some perspective.

    (1) General: if you think you know your "type", should you indulge in a dalliance outside of your defined search parameters. (I'm still talking watches here.)

    (2) Specific: what do you think about this particular specimen? Bid or no bid?

Seamaster 600, "Concentric Circle Dial", Cal 601, Series no. 22347804, Ref no. ST 135.0011, Boett no. 135,011, men's watch, 34.5 mm, steel, manual, plexiglass, leather strap, circa 1965.

Only one picture. No chance to go see the watch in person due to Covid-19 restrictions.

    Thanks!

P.S. I hope you don't mind me taking a bit of a different approach to asking your advice. Thought I'd change it up a bit. :)

Please specify your finding about the crown.

I think it might be wrong.

Do some picture research on the web and come back to discuss what you believe might be correct.

On closer look I can see what you mean. The crown seems a little tall to be proportional to the rest of watch. It's difficult to say for sure, though. Might be salvaged from another Omega: the logo is present on top.

On the one hand a 135.001 Seamaster 600 (1965) seems to have a slightly shorter crown.
Here's another one with shorter crown.

On the other hand a 135.001 Seamaster 600 (1966) seems to have a slightly taller crown. The again, it's not a version with concentric circles dial.

In OF, a post about Seamaster 600 Geneve (1966) seems to indicate a shorter crown would have been used.
