Can we confirm whether the broad arrow hour and minute hands of the Ranchero cal.267 would fit on a SM300 cal. 501? Are they interchangeable?
Not exactly the same - the hole sizes for cal. 267 are 0.75 for minute hand and 1.40 for hour hand while for cal. 501 it is 0.80 for the minute hand and 1.50 for the hour hand. I suppose you could enlarge the holes from the ranchero hands to fit. It sounds like you are thinking of buying the watcho gold ranchero hands and replating them to use for the SM300
Actually, I ran into this set of obscenely expensive Ranchero hands and it gave me the idea! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Omega-hyper...275?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item417e42c50bPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Although I would never pay even close to that much... and would prefer a factory Broad Arrow SM300, the idea seemed appealing Great technical data on the hands, Mike. Many thanks
Gentlemen, I have some "hands-on" input...and questions. Was looking for a replacement for my 2913, cal. 501 BA hands since the radium has gone all black and no match for the dial. Came across a hour hand that looked very similiar, but it is a bit longer and hole is a bit smaller. In alignment with MSNWatch's measurements for a cal. 267 Ranchero 2990 hour hand. The 2913 is the short and dark lumed one in the below pictures. My question: what is the hole size for the Railmaster cal. 284 hands and for the Ranchero 2996, cal. 285 hands? My assessment is that the cal. 28x hands have a broader "body" profile and therefore have a somewhat larger hole size than the cal. 501 and 267 ? When the talk is about wrong BA hands on the railmasters (to short), I guess it is the fake Ranchero ones or hands from a cal. 285/2996 Ranchero? Just trying to get my fact sheet on the BA hands all straight ;-)
According to Boley's web site, the minute & hour hands for a cal. 501 are 0.80 and 1.50 mm. For the cal.285, they are 0.95 and 1.70 mm. Cal 284 is as per cal. 285. Cal 267 is 0.75 and 1.40 mm. This is verified by Ranfft.
