Received my UK passport today. Very proud of becoming a British Citizen, and having dual Nationality in Canada and the UK.
You need to own an Omega Constellation model to celebrate the joyous occasion with some engravings on the Back Casing ...It needs to be Super Special with Your Name, Date of UK passport issued &.. Something like the image of Queen E 2 on the royal postage stamp... you know what i mean..
What a load of codswallop! (An expression that you should now begin to use on a semi-regular basis. I assure you that you will find it to be therapeutic.)
My wife has Australian and Canadian...maybe she should go for the trifecta and get British as well... Side note - she became a Canadian citizen long after moving here, because Australia once had a rule that if you tried to obtain the citizenship of another country (that was not mandated for marrying another national) then you had to give up your Australian citizenship. They finally changed that law, and she applied, and was sworn in as a Canadian citizen in a ceremony held on July 1, which is Canada day. That is also our wedding anniversary (I picked the date - won't ever forget our anniversary!!). That was about 10 years ago now... And congrats to Randomguy!
Yes, so great many Canadians come to the states for their surgery, because "free"=endless wait/rationing, not to mention inevitable eventual fiscal bankruptcy. Blind dogma is always bad. Be it the bible or the communist manifesto...
Living accommodations are available in UK, so its a chance to spend more time with brother and other family, with milder weather during the winter. Getting too old for this harsh winter weather in Canada. Heck, I can even find a part time job for 4 months. If I were to go to US (Florida) in the winter (snowbird), my savings would be depleted by Spring of each year, and not able to work. Anyway, it just opens more doors. Joe G.
This thread needs more congratulations... without the unrelated political bullshit commentary. So ... CONGRATS @randomguy! And that's...
you're 100% correct! it's just that i've gotten so sick and tired of people gleefully bashing the US, capitalism, conservatives etc etc, that i just couldn't let that unprovoked outburst go unanswered.
People think Americans don't know anything about the world Canada: Coffee Crisp, black squirrels, and monopoly money. UK: Tea, pub culture has the whole damn nation driving on the wrong side of the road, money has to be weighed. Seriously though @randomguy congratulations and the working holiday... positively American! but sounds like a fun plan.
We welcome all colours (spelled with a U please) of squirrels here. Squirrel diversity is important to everyone, especially the squirrels! Not only do we have black squirrels, but we have grey squirrels, red squirrels (although the population is not what it once was), and even white squirrels: http://www.blogto.com/travel/2009/10/the_white_squirrels_of_exeter/ These white squirrels of Exeter, ON (not too far from me really) are not albino. And no we don't typically eat them, no matter what colour they are...
Congratulations, and welcome! Now that you're in the club, there are some rules that you will need to comply with: 1 - Never refuse a cup of tea. 2 - Or a biscuit. 3 - Or a pint. 4 - No flag waving, unless you say "Hurrah" at the same time. 5 - Queuing. That should do to get you started. *waves flag "hurrah"*
Absolutely, Congratulations @randomguy on becoming a Brit !! - Welcome to the Home of Democracy, tolerance, warm beer, strong tea, & 'cradle to grave' State Healthcare - You now have the right, ( & duty ! ), to "gleefully bash" both conservatives, & socialists alike, without fear or favour - Curious how "Unprovoked outburst" bears verisimilitude to a description of one Donald Drumpf, .....putative global embarrassment, enthusiastic admirer of Vladimir Putin, & the political nemesis of the once proud, & noble, GOP
