If a connie has a observatory with brickwork does it mean the entire caseback is gold or just the medallion?

 

Depends on the era I think

Then remembered something I read about the brickwork on the observatory meaning that the caseback is gold. Obviously, not the "case" here

 

Not the case on these later C-cased constellations...and yes, pun intended!

 

There is an essay on Desmond's site about medallions
I think the early brickwork medallions were reserved for gold cases (?) but changed later on
