This is my 816, presented to me for a work achievement when I was a very young man and silly enough to chuck away the box and papers!
The 816 has a six sided case, the back of which screws down, and an armoured plexi glass. The pushers and winding crown are similar to the 806. The dial is the only interchangeable part as the 806 and the 816 use the same Venus 178 movement. The slide rule looks the same but has a different mechanism for rotating the bezel:

How bad ass were you to get an 816 from work! Share more, if you don’t mind.
I’m curious of “very young man” part. Way cool!

I was working for a UK car importer, and in those days if you were enthusiastic and lively you could get promoted very quickly, especially as in my case, because I was handling an aspect of the business that most people steered well clear of - product failures and complaints! Anyway, I achieved what they thought exceptional customer satisfaction and hence the Factory presented me with the 816. But I was so dumb, I didn't even wear it until I was much older. Indeed, the same year I was still wearing my blue plastic Timex - see https://omegaforums.net/threads/fotd-facepalm-of-the-day-thread.105394/#post-1379758 . I must have been a sort of prototype business punk. (The only defence I can offer is that it is easier to read the time from the Timex!)

Sales catalogue scan just for gratuitous purposes:

Awesome! The vintage Navitimer models deserve much more attention. I'm in with my 1964 806

1961 and 1971 Navitimers. I purchased the 71 from the original owner who bought it new in 1972.

The 71 is in great shape, but the 61 is flawless.

Thank you. The best part is that I wear it regularly (carefully, of course).

Silver AOPA wing with the stick dial is one of my favorite combinations. What a beautiful silver shade those subdials are as well... ::love::

The condition of the case is amazing if you do. Mine is beginning to show the hairlines here and there, and it hurts deeply when I see them.

I work in an office, sit at a desk all day long. When I’m at my desk, I have a little stand I keep my watches on. This cuts down on the wear and tear.

Great initiative Hajo. I LOVE vintage Navitimers. One of the biggest icons out there. Btw I have a just serviced stunning1956 black AOPA for sale.

It is pretty cool. I have two other Navitimers (one with the 7750 movement and one with the B01). This one is really unique!
