Hi all. Just come across this at a dealer that is not well known to me but is a well established vintage jewellers. No papers or history, they have bought it from a private seller who is well known to them. I can’t get a movement shot. I suspect it’s a redialled top time but I can’t be sure as I’m not sufficiently knowledgeable. In the subdials there is a faint radial pattern and there’s no “top time” dial marking which confuses me.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

You obviously missed that this is a vintage Omega forum. You would be better served posting that question here https://omegaforums.net/forums/other-watch-brands-forum/

    Hey, how are you doing?

This looks strange to me, it looks like a Top Time, but I haven’t seen one with a white dial before. So I’m suspicious. I would post on the Breitling Forum if you need verification WatchFred is one of the mods there - he will know if all is ok.

    Best regards

I think likely that the Watch is a redialled/ Frankenstein version of this :-

Well according to the caseback it is a ref 1191, so at least it started life as a Breitling. That dial is almost certainly redone. Probably packing a Venus movement, but without a serial hard to give a date. Many nicer ones out there for not big money.

A clear redial, left subdial show some overlapping and the font is bizarre

Well, maybe and maybe not. If the price reflects the redial and the movement is ok then why not? it’s not a collector’s piece but it’s not (definitely) a fake either.

Fake, has nothing in common with a real 1151

Early Breitlings are getting very collectable and Top Times in particular are very hard to find at what they were making just a couple of years ago.

I've owned a vintage Top Time and the lug configuration was nothing like that in the OP photos. Also, the finish on the case appears to be somewhat crude, so I would think to stay away. Yes, vintage Top Times are bringing some considerable dollars these days, as are most chronographs with a decent movement. Heck, Sears Roebuck "Tradition" chronos are bringing nearly $2k! Like most things, timepieces go through cycles, with chronographs being somewhat hot commodities at the moment. Bide your time and you will find an honest, genuine timepiece, rest assured.

Just to clarify, I meant the non-Top Time models, such as ref.1190's, and the like. These can still be had for under a grand in nice nick if you hunt about a bit. Problem being, there are an awful lot of Chronograph Suisses that have been Breitling'd, with a done dial and a variety of engravings. I think this is one of the reasons why the 40s-50s era chronos are undervalued. That, and the fact that they more often than not came with Venus and Landeron cam-type movements, rather than column wheels.
