Do we think this is going into a 50th Anniversary Moon watch? It would seem to make sense.

I saw that, but it could just be marketing misinformation so they can surprise us all :)

Hopefully it will make the sourcing of OEM parts for the movement a bit easier again...

Apparently, my idea of a LE for the 50 anniversay in the shape of the reference that went on the moon seems to be even better than what i thought.

This a surprinsingly and huge move!!

Any way the mods can combine all 3 "OMG THE 321 IS BACK" threads?

Would make for much easier reading!

Fantastic that they are bringing this back, but why did it get replaced in the first place?

    :(

    Fratello article quote:
This movement will not be used in a limited edition watch, but there will be a limitation in production for the reasons stated above. Omega reveiled that there will be something in gold, for sure.
Also, this movement will not be used in any of the upcoming Apollo 11 Limited Edition models in 2019.

A 321 caliber reintroduction this year with the upcoming 50years moon landing anniversay and you don't use that movement for the 50y LE....mmmmmh that would be a stupid move.

Prices starting at 12.000-15.000 USD is my guess.
Also i don't think this will have any impact whatsover in finding spare parts to old 321's

Cost of manufacturing and reliability ( looks at column wheel, and beat rate).

    @mancio
Indeed how unexpected and amazing this revival of the iconic 321 caliber really is, I guess we all hoped it to be used for a 50th anniversary Apollo 11 LE as IMHO it was the only way to go and bring the Apollo era Speedmaster chronograph back...
50 years is a "Gold" anniversary but we can only await more news as the press relase clearly states
Watch fans can expect more developments and news in the coming months.

But they are using Sedna not copper this time around so I feel like they are reviving the design, not the movement itself.

Interesting that the 50th Anniversary Apollo 11 Speedmaster commemorates the 145.022-69 which was the initial use (1968 actually) of the 861 movement. I would have thought that a 321 would have been reintroduced earlier but better late, or illogical, than never. My other question is:

ARE THEY REINTRODUCING THE PAPER CLIP?

Didn't an ex- *cough* *cough* 'trusted seller' file a patent on that? He seems pretty good at monetizing questionable items, and at poaching designs from others :D
