Interesting, in particular, in the case of the NEW321 given the other lengths taken to 1-for-1 the watch to vintage aesthetics.
Exactly, why replicate everything, but change the crown design? Is it cheaper to produce? Easier to service? Probably we will never find out.

I suspect (but no real evidence of course) that it’s more about a unintentional transposition of modern watch manufacturing, as @M’Bob alluded to above.

At some point years ago, there was probably some uproar about how the un-smoothed edges and points of crowns snag sweaters, gouge wrist skin, appear unrefined, etc., etc.

And because time is a flat circle, now we’re the new uproar saying “why do these modern crowns have such rounded edges, lack of sharp points, and utter hospitableness to threading my hand through a sweater sleeve!? Oh, the good ole’ days!”

Congrats to both ::psy::
I'm very much in 🥰 with mine, six months now and wear it as much as I can 😁
It took a lot of will power to leave it behind for the NTTD showing - where I wore my 166.0324 😀

...It really is a winner. Straight lugs, double sapphire, flat links, laser-etched logo, minimal text on back (a very VERY underrated element), 39mm. What more can you ask for?
I received the 321 today...

All the modern watches are too big and unnecessary. Does anyone actually keep their watch in them. A sturdier version of the 60's boxes would be much more useful, in my opinion.

I would not disagree.
Though I have one question regarding the box and contents of the 321.

I believe the presentation box is somewhat smaller than the 1861 Speedmaster box. Does the 321 come with any accessories, loupe, etc.?

I don’t know that it’s smaller than the 1861 boxes, as I don’t have an 1861 - but my understanding is that these are the exact same box and sets that the 1861 came in.

The 321 comes with loupe and straps, as in the photo above - except the photo above is not a 321 watch 😁

I think a good compromise would be the long-running red or mahogany box - somewhere to keep the ID cards, manual and receipt is important.

Agreed but an even better place is at the Bank (if/when that's an option).

I may have mentioned it elsewhere, but the (former) Moonwatch Professional "big" case can be purchased (today) for an exorbitant sum (~800 USD). I find it hard to believe there's a market for that, but apparently there is. Although we can all live without the accessories, I admit I'm a bit of a loupe addict... 😗

I hate to say it but I’m now middle aged and I could do with a decent loupe! The only one I have is a 3.5x loupe and at times I strain my eyes to see what I need to see!!

Don’t ask why, but I’ve just gone through this thread to count that, to date, there have been a total reported 38 NEW321s on this thread

I imagine that off this thread, elsewhere on OF, a few more have been been reported - but I don’t recall many

Let’s call it 40 total for rough play.

The first delivery was Robert Jan’s in July, 2020. His is surely one of the earliest deliveries by Omega, globally.

That means that in the past 15 months there have been about 2.5 watches per month showing up here.

In reality, there seem to be fits and spurts: for example the most recent post was just this past Thursday, but before that was 2.5 months ago, in mid-August. Also, the first 25 reported here occurred in the last 6 months of 2020, with the remaining 13 coming along in 2021

The rate of OF members reporting deliveries on this specific thread, of course, isn’t really terribly useful data. But it’s vaguely interesting to put a rough number to the OF reported deliveries.

Yeah so either Americans really love their EW321 and aren't selling or we just haven't received a lot of shipments vs the rest of the world. I'm going with the latter.

i currently find 24 listed as BNIB, and [7] used, geographically and (per population)

UK: 5 [2] (/68MM)
China: 4 (/1.44B)
Germany: 3 [1] (/83MM)
Italy: 3 [1] (/60MM)
Ireland: 2 (/5MM)
USA: 1 [1] (/332M)
France: 1 [1] (/67MM)
Taiwan: 1 (/24MM)
Austria: 1 (/9MM)
Poland: 1 (/38MM)
Mexico: 1 (/130MM)
UAE: 1 (/10MM)
Spain: [1] (/47MM)

Limitations (or nonsense) if this data being obvious, still interesting to none-the-less note that the UK/Ireland block of 9 total per 72MM is way out front in terms of supply; I wonder though if this might not be an issue of import/export and a relative lax of cross-boarder liquidity Post Brexit? Others with a clue would need to weigh in.

Meanwhile, per population, the US and China are neck-and-neck - odd as they are to compare.
