At least it’s refundable. Will be interesting to see what they come up with considering all this hype around 50th anniversary.

There will be 6969 of one version (my guess is steel with a lot of gold accents) and 1014 of a second version, most likely gold since there were (reportedly) 1014 of original Apollo 11 gold watch made. It will also have a new movement which will be a manual wind co-axial Master Chronometer. That should create some controversy! It will be very interesting to see if Omega offers a new Speedmaster line with that movement, though I’m sure they’ll keep the “classic” in their product line to avoid rioting.
Did an OB tell you 6969 pieces? Just curious where the number is coming from. My boutique near me speculated 1969 for obvious reasons, but I have not contacted them in a few weeks for an update.

Didn’t Omega already do a manual wind co-axial in the caliber 3201? But they are calling it the 3861 for this 50th release. I wonder what’s different, of course, speculation until it’s announced.

All I can say is it comes from a very reliable source. The good news is if there are that many being made (and at that price) it should be no problem to get one of them if you want it. Recall Omega made 9999 in steel for the 30th Anniversary, so it's not unreasonable that they would make more than 1969 for an even more important anniversary. They are, after all, in business to make a profit!

with that production estimation, the price for the steel 321 could still be lower and affordable, except the gold version.

Thanks for the information. I guess we will all have to wait to see what Omega does with the 321.

I have visited 3 Omega Boutiques in South Coast Plaza, CA, Chicago, and Old Bond St. in London and I was able to glean much of the same information that is being communicated here. None of the boutiques mentioned a gold version. South Coast Plaza confirmed the 50th anniversary will have a 321 movement. Chicago mentioned a limited production of 6969 watches and a price of $9600. No one had details on what would make the watch special. The watch is apparently slated to be released in the coming weeks during the Swatch Group Watch Fair, which will take place concurrently with Baselworld.

Curiously, both US boutiques were taking deposits to reserve the watch, whereas the London one was not. For what it's worth, I have put down a deposit that is fully refundable. Now, we'll have to see if the watch is worth the price, but paying close to $10K for a Speedmaster seems excessive.

According to Omega's CEO when he was interviewed about the 321 movement, the Apollo 11 LEs will not come with that movement ... but time will tell. Hopefully this month we'll know for certain!

what was released by omega as a video teaser was just the caliber 321. i am expecting that they will release a full production model of the new 321 50th anniversary ahead of the commercial launching.

Always interesting these kind of speculations. I can get it when you launch a LE James Bond in that kind of numbers at $6500. Bond gets a lot of media coverage. But a Speedmaster 321 with 6969 limited numbers seems to me a bit over confident. Will they be able to produce the 321 again in those kind of numbers without any supply issues? The limited editions tend to get sold quick (also due to speculations of the grey market), but 6069 is like 3 time more that the Speedy Tuesday. And consider that at a price 50% higher than a ST.

Yes, my OB told me they are making 6969 pieces of the steel and I think he said 69 pieces of the gold. Also, they told me he would call around March 18-19 and be ready to put a 5k deposit (not the full amount) for the steel and the press release would be shortly after (March 20th). He also stated the steel had a gold bezel and that's all he could tell me right now.

i heard from my omega boutique wakanda they will make 1069 in yellow gold and panda dial, the dial will be coated with original panda fur (explains the premium) the steel one will be made of old spacehuttle steel and have cal322 !!! a decorated version of 33.3 with a half transparent caseback (you have to open CB to see movement) and it will be limited

Well I assume if the LE 321 Speedy is $9,600 then the standard model should be significantly less than that.

Who knows.

i've not had a chance to get new scoops from omega AD near us. so, the way i understand those new information is that the new speedmaster watch will not actually be a total re-creation of the real 321 moonwatch of 1969. since there is no actual production model up to now, it would seem to appear that the watch itself will be in various mutations, fitted only with an improved 321 caliber. im still not convinced to buy one.

The best way to tell is to threaten to poison the City's water supply, and see if he comes out to stop you.

FWIW, I’m going to call my local OB tomorrow and see if they have any updated info. Hopefully can also confirm what others have said or add more speculation 😲
