Love to hear that Rolex are always second best, Omega beat them to the moon and Blancpain beat them to the ocean with the Fifty Fathoms.

How about the Omega Marine which was the world's first commercially available diver's watch introduced in 1932? Proven to be waterproof to a depth of 135 meters?

Yes indeed, on a commercial basis another 1st for Omega, why that doesn’t count as the first overall is up for debate.

Marketing goes a long way ( read " Selling the Crown " by Brendan Cunningham ) and Rolex never photoshopped any photos, which cannot be said of other brands.
In the end there's no wrong/right nor good/bad as it all depends of personal taste/choice " de gustibus non est disputandum "...
Remember at least 20 Apollo era astronauts owned a Rolex GMT-master pilot watch and 3 astronauts even owned a Zodiac !
(SeaWolf and Aerospace-GMT versions) 😗

Lovell had good taste in watches 😉

I think it's mainly due to lume and rotating bezel.
