    So as most will know, after some searching, it's fairly easy to buy a decent watch head...and fairly easy to find a decent, period correct, bracelet. But not always so easy to match the year of production.

    How many here have correct bracelets that don't match the exact year of the watch?

    I have 2 watches that suit a 1039/516 '67.... and have found a nice 1039/516 '69. The OCD in me says NOO...but the bracelet says YES!

    Correct bracelet reference for model is good enough for me, but if I was to be pedantic then I would prefer a bracelet slightly younger, rather than older, than the watch head. It only gets really bad when you start to turn down two notch No.6´s as they are too new for your 2915!

    @cristos71 Well that sounds like a fairly good problem to have! Mine is a little easier to resolve :)

    Can I ask the reason for that please? younger than older.

    Is that due to dealers having a supply of older bracelets to offer when the head was originally purchased?

    I simply like the idea that the watch was produced first and then came the bracelet and not the other way around. But as I said I don´t really care so long as it is the correct reference, it is an accessory after all.

    No, it's not anywhere near correct since it's missing it's bezel! But, It was one of my better finds this year. Came with an extract, 1959 production.

    I did spot that ;). But it seems more acceptable on the earlier models with bakelite bezels.

    Beautiful either way !

    So it may be possible to see a '67 sm300/145012 that came with a '69 stamped 1039 bracelet?

    @gemini4

    Thanks.. that clears that up then! I'll probably just buy the '69 and wait for a '66 to come up at some point. It does look like a nice one.

    I thought i'd got a 66 stamped 1039 a few weeks back but was gazumped last minute.

    Cheers guys.

    @oddboy I know you wouldn't do that to me on a 1039 bracelet. A 2915-1 quite possibly, but not a 1039 ;)

    hhhmmm.........hate to be a heretic (Re. MWO), but I Am pretty sure conventional wisdom says that the bracelet year is usually 1-2 yrs younger than the watch caseback year?? Is MWO referring to caseback year or actual production year off extract?

    single notch vs. double notch #6 - please explain ?

    ok - mwo refers to quarters ie.. production date off extract. i.e. indicates production yr is same as bclt year
