Hello all just received my 176.0014 and I want to remove the bracelet to give it a good clean. The screws holding the bracelet to the watch appear difficult and wondered can i add a drop of WD40 to the screws to help? Wont be dousing the watch in it of course.

Best bet would be a perfectly-sized screwdriver with a torque amplifier. Second best would be a mixture of acetone and automatic transmission fluid, very carefully applied---acetone will seep past almost any seal.

I tried a little WD40 but the screws are very recessed and although I have a pretty much spot on screwdriver theres no give. Do you think there would have been locktite applied in the 70's should I attempt to apply a little heat?

Modest heat and/or temperature shock is always a good thing to try, and pretty harmless.

WD40 is basically glue. Flush it out!

Then take it to your watchmaker.

In situations like this, I have found the issue is torque. A jewelers screwdriver doesn’t really allow you enough grip to get decent torque to break the gunk-seal free. I typically will put the watch head in a vice (with cloth covering it to protect it) and put the jewelers screwdriver in a locking pliers. Then as long as the screw head and driver have a firm seat (not gonna strip), and you apply a bit of downward pressure over the top of the center point of the driver (I usually apply my thumb pushing down) you can apply enough torque to break it free....and hope you don’t snap the screw.
