havibg picked up a 1162 with 172 ends, hoping it would fit my cushion cased Speedsonic, I appear to be a couple MM short.

Can anyone tell me what the correct bracelet is for this watch?

    Looks like the 1162 with 172 20mm ends is for a MK2?

    The 1162/172 should be correct.

I don't recall my bracelet tapering down at the end like yours, it looks to me like a PO modified it.

So the 172 should be 22mm? Hmmm.

The seller had it listed as a Mk2 Speedmaster bracelet... do you happen to know what the mk2 lug width is?

    The Mk2 used the 1162/173 (20mm).

The 1162/172 was also used by the Flightmaster.

Looking at the ends with a loupe, you can clearly see it's been cut.

    Arse.

Hopefully the seller will take it back. ::facepalm1::

    Good luck.

Seems someone got the wrong 1162 for their Mk2 and cut it down to fit rather than getting the correct 20mm bracelet.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252566610602Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

Reading the listing, rather than just assuming that a 1162/172 was the right bracelet, and that someone wouldn't have cut it up... I'm asking nicely, because measuring the lugs, it's been cut shorter than 19mm... gah.

    And it's going back.

Anyone got an unmolested 1162/172 they want to sell... or am I looking for something that's ebay rare? ::facepalm1::

They are still available from Omega. Cost is $500.00. They would probably sell you one outright but if not, I can order for you.

I think you can buy a new one, they are advertised as NOS on ebay but the serial number is ethched and not stamped. So they are not vintage. I paid 200 pounds for one, although it was advertised for 250. I don t use it as I prefer the leather strap. (I would sell it to you, but it is in the UK and I am in Malawi, and won t be home again until August so a bit of a long wait for something you could pick up quite easily :))

Ta for the heads up - I'd rather have one that's a little bit battered... like the watch ;)

Thanks buddy - I've seen them hitting eBay at £250, but not for a while - one guy seems to have a heap of the 24mm ended version for sale... goodness knows what that goes on! Hope the Malawi trip is going well. :D

The 1162/162 (the 24mm version) is for the Ploprof. I've been looking for one ever since the clasp on mine broke.

That's is where I got mine. He buys the entire stock from jewellers who are closing down. The first strap I bought from him fell apart after a few weeks I contacted him and he offered me one from his personal collection. The 1162 bracelet he gave me for 200 pound instead of 250 because of my first deal
with him. I think he is a fair seller, from my experience, so I would be happy to buy from him again.
