    Hi,

I've been considering a Bovet mono rattrapante similar to this one in a local Hong Kong shop.

Price being asked is close to US$9000 (I guess because they saw the same model auctioned by Aurel Bacs last year for 8750 chf).

Would it be crazy to even consider this? I haven't seen other examples so it's hard to assess since there aren't enough reference points...

    Grateful for any opinions.

    Thanks!

if thats excluding buyers premium, the buyer paid more than that. Another 20-30%.

Sheep, you can't expect any kind of reasonable answer without pics of the watch. Similar to that one? That's not a rattrapante. Similar how? Same case? Same condition? Same dial? Same hands?

    Help us to help u.

    $9000 is real ratrappante money

A monoratrappante is an altogether different proposition than a real rattrapante. A monoratrappante, aka "index mobile," is not that complicated a complication, and was indeed a house specialty at Bovet. If it is in exceptionally good condition, that would be about USD2.5K.

Wisdom of wealth indeed! Folks I just got a Breguet mono rattrapante but I have scattered the internet and wasn't able to find any links between Breguet and mono rattrapante. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

As the market looks today i belive the price should be on a serviced piece betven 4-6000 euros.
A black dial chrono in a waterproof case from this period is hard to find for resnoble price at the moment unfortionally.
Belive Bovet ones the patent today and mainly used the name Bovet for export of watches outside Europe thats why this is a moore common watch in the US then europe, they sold the watches and movments to other watchproducers on the domestic market that resold them under other names, belive you find some other names if you google.
Regarding the Breguet version im not happy whit 17 Rubis on the bridge and think this is where your resertch should start.
I cant explain why Bovet worked in this way but belive this is created during the 19 centruary for ther pocketwatches they sold on the chinese market.
A Member on this forum have some nice pices master of speed.
I found this pice last year

if you have observed, the two pushers are not equidistant to the crown. that's how rare this movement nowadays.

The bovet is a very nice Watch but 9000 ...
I know everything is going up but really? .... and it looks like the price is universal as another dealer is selling one at the same price...

Sorry for being a wet blanket but the Breguet is most likely not original. The Breguet logo on the dial was applied later. Others can chime in but if you just got it, I would consider returning it to the seller. Breguet have a record of their production, so they will be able to tell you if it is original. I am afraid that you will be disappointed by the response.

I would be interested to see what they can say. Movement is also branded but again watch world is indeed shady specially the vintage market, you might have a point here though, lets hope you are wrong lol

ive been closely following the bovet mr val84 since i owned 1 since 2004. at that time i can hardly find any reference or on the net except i may have something worthy in the future, an almost 80year old military with gilt dial watch. i acquired mine for less than $600 and with more information came out recently as to the rare historical first mono rattrapante watch, it's no other but up in value, or no chance at all of owning one important vintage piece.
