Hey everyone, this is my first post here so I appreciate any help that you guys can give me! Yesterday at an antique shop I purchased this vintage Longines watch. I have tried to do some basic research, but I am yet to find an exact match. If anyone has any information that they can provide that would be great! At the top of the back of the case there is a small star, and it says "10K GOLD FILLED", and at the bottom the text reads: "REMOVE BEZEL TO USE ALL PROOF 1260 WRENCH" Thank you in advance!
It is a gold filled watch with a clear redial (look at the black indices painted OVER the gold indices). Not particularly valuable or collectable but a wearable piece after some cleaning.
The guy was going out of business so he gave it to me for $5 so I figured I couldn't really lose haha
Yes. After a US$250 service about $20, maybe $15. It's all about the pride of ownership! As I type I am wearing a nice 1940's Unitas I paid $35 for and after spending $180 on a service I'd estimate it's street value at $38.
To get more info we need to see the movement and serial number, BUT it's not straight forward to open this, I'd recommend asking a watchmaker, perhaps someone else knows more? When you get the serial number have a look here http://www.vintagewatchresources.com/year_identifier.php Also you can contact Longines directly by email, https://www.longines.com/#!/company look under 'history'
