Hi folks! So a friend of mine just bought this beautiful Gemini IV. But it came in a generic Omega Box, the chrono and warranty card match the serial of the watch thou. Questions is, was the Gemini offered without the special box and certificate or Was this at some point some kind of dealer mixup or any ideas? He's a bit worried now, thinking he maybe overpaid, as it's not the usual limited ed. Full set etc. He paid 4,9k € btw, what I would consider a fair price. I see them regularely for over 5k. Any help highly appreciated! Cheers, Max
Keep an eye on eBay, they dod pop up every now and then, they also sell for quite a bit. Certificate will be another story! Watch box is grey with the case back logo on the top, with the famous Ed White space walk shot on the inside of the lid.
Thanks @DLT222, that's what I suggested him too. Am I correct assuming that the certificate will have the watch ref stamped in or are those generic?
Can you get a shot of the case back? These dials have been sold on eBay before so it could be that it is s normal speedy but with the limited edition dial. The case back should look like this
Watch it self is genuine, swapped dial was my first concern to, but my friend promptly delivered pictures, confirming an original Gemini IV. Thanks for the help so far guys!
That is a really lovely looking Speedmaster. The 2nd photograph (at the top of this thread) is such a clear and pleasing dial shot. It looks beautiful.
A kindly worded email with pics of the watch caseback and warranty card to Omega customer service and they might help you track down the box and / or certificate. Probably a longshot but worth an attempt.
While that price was not a bargain without the box, it wasn't crazy either. Only a factor if it ever comes to a sale. And why would anyone sell? It's the... Best. Limited. Edition. Ever.
Jeezus guys I have an itch for a blue dialed watch for quite some time now and the pics don't help .... I need one! Thanks for the tip @Andy K I will forward that Info to him!
So what would have been a normal price for that set? Was 4.9K Euro too much for this? Last one here was sold for 5K just with the 2 plastic cards.
5k DOLLAR - Thats if it sold on here. You can only use that price as a guide unless a sleep says SOLD for $4650 for example
I found my box on ebay for $79. Also, I have no care what these are worth, this one never gets sold. I going to write it in my will.
Omega UK doesn't have any boxes left, mine is flaking quite badly and I tried to get a replacement. Got one for my Speedyorite, so those still are around apparently. If anybody has a fitting outer for the Gemini I'd be interested. Florian
I can't take mine off since I bought it. Absolutely love it. Haven't been this happy with a watch for a long time. In regards to the OP's question though, I personally wouldn't have bought it if it was listed as coming in a generic box. It doesn't make much difference to most but I'm a sucker for a complete set.
