I went to look for the first time in a shop at a speedmaster to see if i preferred a normal one or a FOIS version, didn't like either because of the green yellow colour of the hour makers, then saw this in a used jewellery shop, from 1978 I was told, actually looks better in real life than the photo, can with the original bracelet and box. Hour makers have got a bit more colour than the photo shows, bit browner. Was part of a big watch collection and the owner had passed away and all his watches were bought by the shop, doesn't look like he ever wore it.
Wait...but what are you saying you need help with? How much did you pay for it? All relative to price...
It was a bit less than a new one, just wanted a bit of info on it really, see if it is really from around that year, differences between this and a new one except the hour marker colours.
Nice purchase. Would suggest that you open up the caseback just to check on the movement and serial number.
Correction, ask a local watchmaker to open up the caseback. Don’t ever attempt to do anything like it your self.
From looking at only this one picture, it looks all correct to me. It can be from around -76 to -88. To verify it’s age you need it’s serial number that is found by removing the caseback. Can you show us a picture of the caseback (it doesn’t need to be removed for this). It can help us give you more, info as the caseback came in different versions in different years.
...without one of these, https://omegaforums.net/threads/pah...die-caseback-opener-highly-recommended.39120/
Looks to be a -76/-78 or possibly be 80s(145.0022). Once you get a pic of the serial, it can be narrowed down
Please take a photo of the back of the watch, we would like to se how the letter Q and W is stated on the inscription on the back. This helps to narrow down the age without removing the caseback.
Here's the back, not sure if they exist but I would like to get a brown racing deployment strap for it, can't seem to find any.
From the photo I can see that this is a 80:ies (81 to 88) caseback. It has the short dash on the letter Q and lower mid section on the W letters. The serial number will tell you the definitive production date for your watch.
