I now am a very proud owner of the eye catching 2255.8000 with cal 1120 it really needs a polish and most likely a full service from Omega I thought I would share this with the forum Serial # 81388200 although I have no way to verify the authenticity it seems to tick all the boxes. What do forum members think about polish and how often should it be serviced (realistically) steve
Serial number matches the model, so I think it's good. A good service and refinish will have it looking very nice. Cheers, Al
Thanks Al. I hope to get it to omega in the next couple of months. It is said it may be away for upwards of 2 month is that right?
Some see it as sacrilegious but I have that model and think it looks and feels great on an alligator strap and OEM deployment. Ironically the strap isn't waterproof which is odd bearing in mind the source of the leather.
Congratulations on a fine watch, often referred to as the "Electric Blue" which imho deserves to be up there alongside its 2254.50 brother in terms of desirability. Aside from a service which is always a good idea if the history is unknown, doesn't look like much cosmetic work is needed. Possible a light refurbish, but retaining the contrast between the brushed and polished areas, especially on the lugs, sides and bezel. Bracelet might need a bit more work. These look particularly stunning in sunlight
One big advantage that these have over the Bond or 2254 is that with in theory, with care the bezel insert can be polished to remove scratches unlike the anodised inserts in the other variants. Omega or STS won't do it, they prefer to replace the inserts but it can be done. With care as I say lest you damage the inlaid number enamel
