I bought this 1960 Rolex GMT 1675 PCG with tropical dial for only $6,500 but the watch hass issues. The chapter ring dial has moisture damage. The hands and bezel are incorrect. The case has also been polished. Other than those, the watch keeps good time and has that distinct vintage character that i am looking for. Another welcome addition to my collection.

Re-lumed also I suppose. Very hard to put a value on a watch like this, but the most important thing is that it appeals to you.

Would love to see restoration work on this. Almost like buying a rusted mustang.

I actually really like it as it is. A Geiger reading would be really nice to see. I wonder if these sorts of conditions can cause the dial lume to pit and crack. I have a hunch (no real evidence to back up my hunch) that the geiger would see high activity on the dial alone.

Interesting find.

I know some would call the dial tropical but if moisture damage is obvious, rules that out. I get the bezel and insert... should have been a “saw tooth” bezel and the insert should be a fat font Pepsi probably faded to a blue and burnt orange.
The hands ... what are your thoughts on them? They seem mismatched, possible replacements, but still a small arrow. Not unusual to find over polished cases on these watches. Good catch.
Here’s mine for comparison...

It still glows under UV light. I dont think its relumed either but a geiger test would be the better judge.

Restoration plans or use as-found? 😁

I will leave the watch in its present state. I like it that way.

Looks like a lot of fun to wear, as-is. A trip to a reputable watchmaker for an interior service would be advisable, sooner rather than later.

Congratulations, I wish you many years of happy wearing!

Thank you. I bought many years ago long before the craziness.
