Thanks to a member here, I a while ago dared to bid on this. I didnt get it, but today I got a second chance and jump on it. I have 2 weeks to return it, if issues should turn up. Obviously the bracelet will have to go. Paul
Update and more questions: Well, I decided to keep it and took the watch to the local watch guy (certified Omega dealer and also passionate into vintage watches). He was on line with you guys, saying everything looks legitJ One bad thing discovered though, was that an idiot sometime in its life, have tried to open the case without having the correct tool for it, resulting in scratching/damaging one of the grooves (not sure of the correct English word for these). Omega guy said that, if it was his, he would change the crystal and give it a service, plus polish the scratched area and give the rest a very light polish. I might let him do that BUT, in the meantime another watch I’ve been looking for, of course just turned up So, to help finance that one, it means this might have to find another home soon. Now to my questions - if I want to try the for sale section here, how should I offer it: 1: Offer it as I bought it? 2: Have it serviced etc. before offering it? Any advice appreciated. Thanks. PS. Sorry for my lousy English.
Hi! You are building up a seriously nice collection there! If I had not been spending money like a drunk sailor the past weeks you would have a PM heading your way!
The hard core collector wants option 1 so they can decide if they want it cleaned up and how much done to that, and they trust their own watchmaker. The less experienced wants 2, and maybe even more done to it so it meets the "ooooo, shiny" standard.
So...if you plan to keep, do whatever you wish. Planning/Hoping to sell later, leave as is ... IMHO ... keep parts you may change .... I think
