    Hi all,
Looking round on Amazon there are lots of books on watches, watch collecting, Omega, etc. are there any good books you would recommend to give me a good, general introduction to watches, watch-making, etc?
    Thanks

For visual appeal (that won't steer you wrong), I am a fan of the John Goldberger picturebooks

In general yes but a few of the watches pictured don't have correct parts.

Picture books are good - that way I can share them with my 1 year old daughter :)
If that helps me identify parts in a movement photo, and understand better how they work, that sounds like what I'm after. I'll look at amazon.
    Thanks

I bought (and almost finished) max cutmore's "collecting and repairing watches" which has been really good. It has taken Me through the various types of escapements, why some worked better than others, issues around temperature variation and how they were addressed, etc. definitely worthwhile for the newbies!

One of the standard texts is Donald De Carle's Practical Watch Repairing. A good reference to learn and tinker.

So what do people think about AJTT? And where do you get it? My wife has started hunting and said it is ~$600????

Should be about 350-380, try a downunder boutique.

I'm a bit concerned about your comment:
"however, in respect to Omega Constellations, the definitive book on the history, horology and design story of this iconic brand is yet to be written."

I thought it had - I've printed and bound all your PDFs and will be taking it to the binders on Monday (just kidding)!

Omega boutique in Jakarta also offers AJTT at USD 580. In US they sell via online for USD 399.

well, just in case you are tired of watch related publications....in this book, you will not find any reference numbers nor technical details regarding movements, dials, etc... but you may enjoy a small collection of "epic booties", $35
