As an owner of a rifling model, I love it. And it's far bluer than shown in the graphics

"For a friend" , eh @Foo2rama?

Uh huh.. Gotcha. 馃槈

Nope really. 馃榾 I'm waiting for a Spectre at the right price and a 42mm 2500d PO white number/Black Bezel. I personally only get tempted by SMP's when I'm drinking, which tells me it's not a good idea to get one.

I've already got a 3313 orange the "better then bond watch"馃槈

The ceramic bezel alone is enough reason for the update, is just gorgeous, but you have to hold it in your hands to understand what I mean

You seem to think that I haven't? I'll stick to my recommendation.

I'll go SMP any day, it's the original Omega Bond watch 3ad8f1dadfa1eecf1f99fd48d2b8b51d.jpg
But that isn't an original Bond watch.
It's the same core design, just the 2017 version with all the improvements that means.
You call them improvements, I don't. For a Bond fan a Bond SMP (blue wave dial) is maybe a more logical choice as versions of it were used in 4 films. The 2201.50 PO mentioned above (and worn in QOS) is in some ways a better all round watch than the early SMP though. Here is mine during a short lived leather strap experiment. Sadly this is a 2500C which, if internet wisdom is to be believed, will explode sometime soon, or so I hear, perhaps fitting for a watch with a Bond link.

And my Bond, not a great picture, the reflections make it look odd:

In response to the OP - what budget do you have?
- That will determine what's "in budget".
For a comparison, albeit limited, from left to right:
40th Anniversary SMP / Casino Royale Planet Ocean / Casino Royale SMP / QoS Collectors Piece / Commanders Watch

Not the best of pictures due to the light reflection, but can provide close ups.

Went left field with the 5513 (but he has one), how about right field. You could still buy this and an LE above馃榾
Seems to get the girls!

Nice but probably not suitable for the OP's needs. The only Bond link with the 200m is the nickname, which even Omega have now adopted. It is so called simply because it was the comparatively unloved model directly before the Bond SMP. Nice enough watch in the flesh though. The one in the VWC link above looks water damaged to me so is probably best avoided. Oh and it looks like the Omega branded movement has been swapped out for a generic ETA version too! Here is my auto full size:

I like obscure Bond watches 馃榾

Here's another:

A Swiss made diver's watch, great looks and dirt cheap. Love it. Can anyone name the Bond connection?

Is Bond alleged to have worn a Tissot?

He did. It was Moore's personal watch and he wore it at least on one occasion. I Believe it was in "For Your Eyes Only".

Here's some alternatives that can be obtained on a "lower" budget...

His budget is 3-7k USD.

Lots of fake Bond edition watches out there though

Gotta go with the first Omega worn in a Bond film. By that, of course I mean the aptly named 176.007.

Well I never knew that - excellent!

May I throw another option on the pile. I believe "almost" pre bond. Seamaster 2231.80.00. Blue Wave dial, Titanium. Love mine. Prices vary 2K-5K.

So after a wonderfull visit to the Omega Boutique in Costa Mesa aka South Coast Plaza, and trying on an 42mm 8500 my buddy has made his choice. He also tried on a 2500 45.5 at Tourneau but the proportions didn't work on him. He has not tried on a 2500 42mm but he likes the ceramic bezel, which was my choice, but the thickness on the 8500 is not an issue for him.

So now on the hunt for a 42mm 8500 ceramic dial for him, sending out feelers to the regular sources.

Side note going into IWC and JLC he was very surprised how nice all the salespeople where and he found it an interesting experience. Rose gold Atmos clocks are drool worthy trust me next to the silver there is no doubt...

Also the OB offered unprompted to switch my 3313 clasp over to the new adjustable one for about $120... I might have to take them up on that.
