Bomber County - Lincolnshire, BBMF and East Kirkby, UK. 6B/159 Squadron reporting. May 2025.

Very privileged to have a tour of the BBMF Hanger at RAF Coningsby this week, well worth a visit.

A night at Woodhall Spa, home of the Dambusters HQ and then a day at Former RAF East Kirkby, now the Lincolnshire Aviation Museum.

Amazing to see the control Yoke from ED932, flown by Wing Commander Guy Gibson VC, DSO & Bar, DFC & Bar on the famous Dams Raid.

x2 operational Lancaster in 24 hours (well one is only approved for Taxi duties, but is 100% WW2 specification (no dual control) and the team is working to get her flight ready. Also lovely to see the Mosquito again, which has been Tony Agar's life work, An unbelievable story. - https://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/lots-to-see/aircraft/mosquito. Seeing the Mosquito and Lancaster is especially poignant as as WC Guy Gibson was flying a Mosquito on his fatal mission in 1944.

Hope you like the pics (A B25 which was signed by General Jimmy Doolittle is waiting in the wings and should be ready to Taxi soon...)

Photos below and also links to previous escapades.......(B25 to follow soon)

That’s wild OGfanman. Britain has a fascinating history in general (I love Jane Austin)but their aviation history is way cool. I’m pretty sure if during the American revolution if you guys had even one or two bombers we would have thought twice that day at Lexington/concord and we would still be one big happy family.
Your pics gave me a flash back to my pops. He was a U.S. marine drill sergeant till an injury took him out of that line of work. We lived near a decent sized U.S. airbase and my father used to bring me, I was knee high to a merry grasshopper and the soldiers and airman had fun stuffing me in turrets and cockpits. I was too young to appreciate the history and power I was in but I went up for a rides something I’d pay dearly to do today. Those are great ways to spend a day. I often wonder if I’ll still get to Britain someday. We had tickets to Scotland and London on the itinerary with a departure date that seemed perfectly fine but then this thing Covid came around. It was this weird virus, I’ll explain it some other time.
