I am currently thinking of selling off my IWC Portuguese 3714-17 and my Tag Heuer Monaco WW2115.FC6217, I would use the funds to buy myself a BLNR, "Batman." Currently I have the Omega Speedmaster DSotM and Panerai Pam 1312. I think the BLNR would round off my collection a lot better. After getting my BLNR, I would aim to get a dress watch, preferably a H. Moser & Cie Venturer Purity with Funky blue Fume dial. What do you think?

I was always 'meh' about the BLNR when I saw the articles and photos. Was at my local AD about a week ago and they had one in stock. Tried it on and I have been scheming since to make it mine. Really nice piece and the color is just out of this world. I have a TT Blue Sub and a Tudor Black Sub and I keep telling my wife that this would be the perfect transition watch between them both! She keeps rolling her eyes at me, have to get her an eye doctor appointment :) I say if you try it on and like it, jump on it! I wish I could've pulled the trigger myself. Good luck!

I really want to jump into Rolex before the price hike and distribution slow down. Since I already have a chrono (DSotM) and Diver/Military (PAM1312), I think I should get a GMT. Its another reason why I think I should sell my Portuguese and Heuer. While my I love my IWC, I think it will find its way back in my collection sometimes in the future.

I cant speak to getting rid of one for another. I've not had any luck there yet! :D All I can say is, try it on, if it makes you happy make sure it makes you happier than some of the ones you already have. I thought I really wanted a SkyDweller but I tried a white gold one on and it doesn't do it for me. I want to see the SS Blue to be sure but you won't know until its in the metal.

I'll give you another example. I have a Speedy 60 on order. I think i'm going to like it but I won't know until I have it on my wrist. I was in Jack Road in Japan a few months ago and they had a PAM 424. This was a watch I KNEW I had to have. Put it on. Hated the way it looked on me. I have big wrists, it would fit just fine, just didn't do it on the wrist. So hold on to the other watches until you have a BLNR on and think of how it makes you feel vs your others too. Enjoy it. We are fortunate people to afford such things

I'm also considering the BLNR as my first Rolex. I think the GMT hand is actually the most useful complication in today's world, at least if you travel.

Hard to say if it's worth giving up 2 other great watches to get it, I don't know how you value those, but I will say you're a bit chronograph-heavy.

All personal taste. I have gone through a 5 and 6 digit Sub with date, a BLNR, a DSSD Deep Blue, a Daytona, and lastly a DS43. I loved them all until I didn't. Sub was too small. BLNR was too flashy. D Blue was gorgeous but floppy and disproportioned. Never connected with the Daytona. I ended up selling all of them but the SD43. For my taste, it is perfectly proportioned and subtle. Bigger than a sub. Not as flashy as a BLNR. Much more comfortable than the DSSD.

But that's just me. Only took about $50k to figure out the right one.

As noted by @corn18 the BLNR is a little flashy, but I added an Everest rubber strap and it really balanced it out. Certainly toned down the flashiness and makes it perfectly wearable day in and day out.

Plus the use of rubber really makes it a Batman choice.

I love Rolex and I love the GMT....I have, to date, not been interested on the BLNR. I have a Coke and a Pepsi GMT and I love those two....just not a fan of the fatter case or the color scheme.

The BLNR was my third Rolex. First came the Polar Explorer 2 during the "I don't want to be another ostentatious prat wearing a Rolex" phase, then the 2016 Explorer...finally I ended up getting the BLNR and have not regretted it...I love the black blue bezel. I would certainly recommend it as your first modern Rolex...it is shiny, but the blue makes it more cheerful than a Sub and the GMT complication is useful for any frequent traveler.

Bought this and "Batman" was released! Argghhh. No matter we are bonded through many adventures now. Don't need another modern Rolex. GO FOR IT!

BLNR is one of the best modern Rolex. GMT function is excellent and the blue on the bezel really pops.

It can be flashy, but dress it down and it works a treat.

I love all the response so far. Great pictures too. Gave me lots of ideas for straps. I do travel a lot and the BLNR would be perfect. In the beginning my collection would have been all chronograph. Pretty much a iconic chrono from my favorite brands; Omega, Panerai, IWC, JLC, Rolex, etc. Atleast 5 chronos from 5 brands. However, I rather have versatility, A watch from each category, occasion, or complication. If I do get the BLNR, I will most likely put another strap on it. Another option was the Hulk submariner.

This is absolutely true. I definitely need to try it on before I buy. Many of my friends said that Rolex in a dive/supercase just don't suit my style and the Daytona was better for my look. Hopefully my AD has one in stock for me to try.

Looks nice! Wouldn't the new oysterflex fit it aswell? The daytona 11651XLN clasp Should not be that different to the one on the gmt.
