Just here to see how butt hurt the purists get on these.

Happy for the people that rock these. It’s a Swatch watch and see nothing wrong with the pump by the watch industry. It’s good for the future with brand recognition.

They're beautiful, maybe not $400 beautiful, but a very nicely done piece. Looks like Swatch will do one of these every year until it doesn't work anymore.

Wow. Right at $400

that’s the psychological ceiling. Still a premier Swiss mark and it’s a novelty. I think it’ll work. Dare I say for the young’s and even the ladies. It’s fun.

For $400, I’m getting a Hamilton khaki mechanical ($430 on Joma), not a plastic toy that will crap out in a couple months.

Its a good marketing/corporate move for Swatch Group, but it panders to those who want to actually believe they have a Fifty Fathoms on their wrist.

Objectively, this watch, and the farcical Moonswatch that preceded it, are no different than the toys in fast food kids meals.

I don’t see it as a means to democratize watches that would normally be unobtainable for many (including myself); it’s a marketing ploy and people are falling for it… hard.

What’s next, a plastic Breguet Classique?

Not for me. However nice it looks I just couldn't bring myself to spend what is decent money on inevitably a disposable watch. I have too many other watches still on my list to buy 👍

I'm about 98% certain these are legit. And frankly I think they look pretty good. Especially the Antarctic one.
I am pretty sure they are not... They have a very restricted word on it, that I am pretty sure would not be on this watch.

I was down with Moonswatch until they made it less than relatively easy to purchase. Surely these will be no easier to obtain and I am willing to bet the price on these will be higher than most who understand what a plastic watch should cost, expect.

Here in Hong Kong the moonswatch is available. All models.

I completely agree it’s fun and I admire Swatch 500% for its marketing genius, with Moonswatch and again this. However 42mm is very large for female wrists, even if large is fashionable.
Below my own (thin) wrist with a 38mm watch.

Swatch won’t care, they will get your dollar either way.

I like it and if the opportunity presents to buy one, like with the Moonswatch I just might.

No one who buys one of these thinks it's a real 50 fathoms, surely?! Hardly anyone in the "real world" even knows what they are. It's a cool swatch that's all. As is the moonswatch. A cool swatch that's inspired by a watch icon. They're a bit of fun, as all swatches are meant to be. What stops them being fun is being crushed or beaten up by a bunch of angry flippers. Or not living within easy distance of a location that sells them.

SWATCH seems to work, these unserviceable bio-ceramics are even more expensive than the moonSwatch.
Maybe we might see high & low tide versions of these "Blancpain" and it's certainly fun for the millions of youngsters who can't afford a wrist watch, be it vintage or modern, at today's prices !

They do look nice. But not $400 nice for a lump of plastic and a non-serviceable movement.

I find the part with the movement jarring, really. Yes, they wanted to use a mechanical movement (because "Blancpain no Quartz, duh!"). Sure, they went for the Sistem51, because it says "Swatch" loudly. But the place where I see Blancpain most is with their ad campaign to save the oceans, and using a hermetically sealed, non-serviceable movement just doesn't shout "ecological awareness" for me. It is literally a throwaway product, no matter how many recycled fishing nets grace your wrist.

Will people like it? I guess. Will it bring awareness to Blancpain? Yup. Will scalpers be happy once more? Yea. Is it for me? No. Is it for someone else? To each their own.

I am sure that Swatch did the market research necessary to feel confident marketing an automatic watch with a life expectancy of 4-6 years and a present day price of £130 - £250, which is what the rest of the range seem be at RRP. I can see this price range being given the nod by the research, and then to push it up to £320 ($400) is not a big stretch given associated name and marketing power. However, a member on MWR posted a video made by a reputable watch repairer here in the UK (watchguy) where he 'forces' his way in to a System51 driven watch to inspect the innards, apparently they have a plastic escape wheel and pallet fork and the hairspring is fixed in to the bottom plate. Timegrapher results were distinctly average/erratic in all positions except dial down. I agree it looks a fun watch and I am sure it will be a flyaway success. But, in my 'old fashioned' mind, this sealed, unserviceable watch and movement is horologicaly and environmentally offensive and there is no genuine reason for it to exist. It would have been much better on every level to persuade Blancpain that it was OK to put a decent quartz movement inside and allow access to it.

Non-Serviceable. Non-repairable.
Average life span - three to six years?

It better be cheap.

Some have suggested the movement is junk, sadly.
