Having just read a great write-up on a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe, I was inspired to post a picture of my Blancpain Rattrapante (Cal. 1186). I'm a big fan of BP. And so i thought: are there other Blancpain fans on this forum? Post pictures of your BP, please. PS. I am also an Omega fan, obviously.
Why yes, yes there are fans of BP. Does a former watch count? I sold this Villeret a few years ago, which was pretty stupid. Luckily, I replaced it with a vintage AP so I kind of, maybe, sorta, got over letting this go.
Never owned one, the new 40mm FiftyFathoms with moisture indicator is gorgeous. I helped friend pick limited Aqualung in gold from pawnshop for pretty good money, gorgeous watch:
I am fan of the Blancpain GT Series But it doesn’t affect my preferences in terms of watches in any way
I have three that I've aggregated over the years: A military dial Leman, A military dial tdmp Leman, and a Flyback Chronograph. Military Dial Leman...Almost sold this one a couple of times, but @ulackfocus didn't like my price. The Military Dialed Moonphase... BP Flyback Chronograph. This one is a little different from the normal ones. It's a limited edition called the Bagatelle. The opaline dial, sword hands, sapphire back, and gold rotor was done in 100 pieces in ~1998 That's all I've got. I used to have more, but there was this horrible boating accident.....
For a split second, I thought that watch was called the Baguette. This would have been a perfect name for a watch from Blanc Pain (which translates to "white bread").
Yes, definitely BP fan here...my old Leman... 21,600 A/hr... Even came is a nice box... Kinda miss it sometimes...
Such a great and often overlooked brand. One of my favorites 2017-06-06 11.16.25 by ataripower, on Flickr
I think I would overlook them less if they would release a non-limited edition of the Fifty Fathoms (not the Bathyscaphe, the real FF) for less than $12,000 fing dollars...
Here’s a long term project Blancpain that still needs a bezel sourcing. Not sure that it fits in here, it’s certainly the ugly duckling amongst the swans. I’m still dreaming of the day I can find a 50s Fifty Fathoms on the cheap...
They make a whole line of small kitchen appliances, available in white or silver. Toaster: Toaster Oven: Rice Cooker: There are lots more, but you get the picture.
