    Hello there,

Trying to learn more about how to acquire the perfect vintage Omega. A search on OF and the web provided some info, but this particular offer raised more than one question :)

    - What are your thought on the quality and final price of this black Seamaster with Crosshair?
    - did Omega ever produced a Seamaster in black with Crosshair?
    - Any recent experience with catawiki or this seller?

    Seen on catawiki
    Seller: horlogeman
    Ref. no. 166 - 002
    cal. no. 565
    Final price 682euros
according to seller:"Dial in matte black... very nice and possibly an earlier professional refinish."
    = acceptable or NoGo?

    Cheers from Switzerland!!

    Well here goes,
    - Wrong crown, refurbished dial, the movement could perhaps use a service. Way too expensive for what it is.
    - yes, here's an example from an earlier post: https://omegaforums.net/threads/seamaster-2975-3sc-black-crosshair-dial.77577/
    - Nope.

run away or run after ?

Thank you all for the answers.

Despite the redial, the watch is still appealing to me (sorry). I agree that the black dial alone might have boosted the final bids.

In terms of prices, what would be a good price for a classical Seamaster in an OK shape?
In Switzerland, it seems difficult to find nice automatic Omega below 600chf. Often they need a service directly adding up directly another 600chf/650chf if serviced by Omega.

    1) run away and never look back
    2) EUR 450/600 depending on model
    3) no service omega

The thing is. If you just want one omega, just buy something you like and price is not that important. If you want to collect, dont buy but start reading, searching, asking and then start buying. Just do it for two months.

At least two months. Wise words (as I am learning....)

If you buy a vintage watch and want to get it serviced, sending it to Omega will rarely be the best thing to do. It is pretty common to send watches abroad for service if you cannot find an independent watchmaker you can trust in Switzerland, I am sure that some of our resident Swiss members can advise on this :)

Btw, don't worry if you find the watch appealing even though it is a redial. Just don't expect a bunch of nerds on the internet to like it - buy it for your own pleasure :D
