Think, ck 1991 wants to get a nice, genuine black Omega Seamaster.
The one in the other thread was genuine, but went away for about $2.4k.
Now, he is searching for a cheaper one.

    Only thing, I can tell:
Take your time and do some research.
Most of the black dialed Seamasters are refinished or a redial.
    Take care...

Hmm, could you guys perhaps elaborate how the conclusion was reached that it is a redial? It would be most helpful. Thanks.

Also, The only thing I could identify was the caliber number. Serial is kind of blur. How should I go about doing further research? Please advise.

All black dialed vintage Omegas are to be treated with caution, especially if the dial is some seemingly crisp as on this one. Therefor, you need to compare the text (fonts, size, placement, colour) with other specimens of the same reference - the ref. no. is on the inside of the caseback.

Do that and it will become clear that this one is a redial.

If we accept it is likely a redial, then the question becomes, do you want to wait around for a more genuine/unrestored example that may have some degree of ageing/patina/degradation (the collector market)? To get a good one, you'll need to do a lot of research and take your time. Also be prepared to pay something of a premium for an original, good condition example.

On the other hand, if you are more concerned with the aesthetics as opposed to the originality, then you have more latitude. The photos aren't great, but the redial looks to have been done with at least some degree of care. As to the overall condition of the watch, importantly the movement, there is not enough evidence to make an informed decision. Better photos would help.
