Hello everyone,

I saw this beautiful black hobnail dial Seamaster on ebay for about $1,300usd and was wondering if it was a good buy? I'm not sure what they go for and was hoping for some insight?

Does it look legitimate and is that a reasonable price?

That's a very rough watch indeed, I wouldn't be a buyer at even a fraction of that price. If your heart is really set on a hobnail dial there are better options that come up in the sales section here from time to time.

The ones I've seen one here have all been around the $2k mark, was hoping for a cheaper option 🤣

As is true in many things, there is nothing more expensive than a cheap vintage watch 😀

The dial and movement look very tired and damaged. I understand it's cheaper than a good example, but it's still a fair amount of money to throw away on something that's not appealing, IMO.

IMO, even if very nice, I wouldn’t expect this model to fetch comparable prices as beefy lug Seamaster models.

As others have noted, this is a poor hobnail dial in your photo:
A black hobnail dial in good condition is going to cost a lot more money than you are hoping to pay. Here’s an example of an Omega Constellation hobnail in good condition:

I'd still buy it at the right price. I enjoy old, faded watches. Right price being the key.

Me too, what would your version of the right price be? Allegedly it runs and functions perfectly.

Not Porteroso, but: $3-400 is about as much as I'd go for that, and only if I liked the dial. $1300 US for that ($2k AUD) seems like a huge overpay.

I agree, $400. Maybe pay $500. Normally I would keep looking, but 500 is fair. You will not find one in good condition under $1,000, so to get a poor example that is enjoyable for $400-$500 would be acceptable for me.
