It was suggested I start a thread here in the Omega Forums since I could not address questions about this watch and maybe more Omega Collectors would see it and be able to answer.

Was this case made by Omega? People point to the Omega symbol inside the caseback as unique.

The finish of the movement is unlike other Omega Trench or Signal Corp watches seen around the web with most of them being "plain" or maybe "frosted" and a brassy look. Would this have been a special order? Are there Omega catalogues or adverts proving one could order this Geneva Striping?

Of course, any comments adding to understanding this watch is appreciated. From a cruise around the interweb, it seems to be unique.

Me? I just liked the original black dial, and intact golden lume. I am very superficial ;)

And it pairs nicely with my white dialed sterling silver 1916 Gallet Trench

serial obscured but it starts 52XXXXX

What is the diameter of the movement? This might be helpful in determining which movement.

    Hi,
Looks all good to me also.

    Looks like a CL 1801 with a cal 13Lignes (28.9mm diameter?). Here in a 1917 catalog :

Logo is not unique. I've seen several other Omegas from WWI era with this logo. 0.935 fine silver case was made by one of the major Swiss watch case companies (I forgot which one) for Omega. Looks legit to me.

Beautiful patina on the dial. Particularly for a 100 year old watch.

    Congratulations on a wonderful find.

I have a later & smaller version (23.7 caliber Inside, 34mm case without crown, from around 1925). The dial is in a good condition but has lost its radium :

Sorry for the reflections on the glass, I always have difficulties taking pictures of watches with black dials.

A picture of the logo :

Wristwatches with black enamel dials are not so frequent. Other examples on OF?

Exactly my thoughts, even the movement previews the cal 35.5 of the Pilots Watch.

Very nice watch.... yes, black dials in the 1914-1919 era are infrequent (if google images can be an authority)

Any reason why black dials on these are less frequently seen? Nice example.

    Thank you

I would guess, black dials were a special order, later Omega watches with black dials were special order.

Wow, has it been three years? I'm gonna have to plan a trip to the bank and wear it next week.

    Hi TexOmega,
I was just checking out the internet for info on the black dialed versions as I have one and looking at buying another at the moment. I come across this post. Plenty of white ones out there.
