A friend of mine need a birthday present for his brother. He thinks about to buy a watch.

If you are in the same situation, what would you buy (with pics please)?

    I suggested Longines and Sinn

    Range: 2.5k -3.5k USD
    Modern classic watch
    New
    Sporty / elegant
    Diameter 40-44mm
    No quatrz

Thanks in advance for your help,

    Adri

Well - it goes without saying that the beloved Omega Speedmaster falls into all of those categories.

It is surprising how much choice you have given the price range. Here are just a few options:

The Longines Legend Diver would be a good choice as well. Modern take on a classic, comfortable at 42mm, solid movement and nice balance between sport and formality. Well priced in my opinion.

    So guys

    His birthday was yesterday:)

First thank you at all for your good ideas and for helping me:thumbsup:

We decide to write him a coupon for a watch. To this coupon we had added some pictures of watches.

    Speedy
    Speedy Moonphase
    Longines Legend Diver
Longines Heritage Diver 1967 (i have seen it at Baselworld and i'm in love::love::)
    Tudor Black Bay

or something else if he doesn't want one on the pictures.

He choose the Longines Heritage Diver 1967 (I'm a little jealous).

Now he needs a little bit patience, till the Longines is available (August 2015).

Thanks again guys and best regards,

    Adri

I've always used it in a civilian context but the top definition from UD is...

Military term for an operation in which multiple things have gone wrong. Related to "SNAFU" (Situation Normal, All F****d Up") and "FUBAR" (F****d Up Beyond All Repair).

In radio communication or polite conversation (i.e. with a very senior officer with whom you have no prior experience) the term "Clusterf**k" will often be replaced by the NATO phonetic acronym "Charlie Foxtrot."
By the time the artillery came in the enemy was already on top of us. It was a total Clusterf**k.

In the automotive industry they used to use a lot of military specifications, such as MIL-SPEC-105D for calibration measuring instruments, until they came up with there own. In the QS9000 quality standard somebody actually put the following specification in the glossary:

MIL-TP4-1C..... which is an acronym for (I love this) "Make It Like The Print For Once"..... first time I saw it I almost died laughing.

It is rare to run into humour in industrial quality control and even rarer to see somepull slip something that funny into an official industry standard.

The world needs more of this!
