    Hi all,
Yesterday was my birthday (32), and my wife bought me a Hirsch Medici Leonardo for my Speedy (I know, not very original), but looking at everyone else's, I knew that I needed to get that strap

i have also mentioned in earlier threads that I needed to stop buying and start saving. Well the reason is that we are expecting our second child (due 31 December), so I figure that perhaps $3000 would be better spent on baby stuff than a Centenary (although it is touch and go).

    Congratulations X 2.

And don't worry about missing the bus on watches now, you'll have plenty of time and money when the kids leave home.

And a tip on your strap. Don't lay it flat too often. Because it's curved between the lugs and also curved to fit the wrist, laying it flat pushes the upper part of the curve against the rim of the case and you'll eventually lose that close fitting appearance.

    Cheers

    Jim

Congratulations! Its seems that a bit of frugality is a sound decision for the time being. Your short list closely resembles mine, so I will try to make it easier on you by scooping up any pieces that might be tempting;). Perhaps your next large purchase could be timed to commemorate the birth of your child?

    regardless, happy birthday!

Your news puts life in to perspective - many congratulations.
Sure we shall all be looking for some photos in the new year, not watches or even dogs, sure we are all softies at heart.

Congrats on the incoming baby. Maybe an incoming post in December? Anyway any of those four options are worthy to mark the birth. Maybe all 4?

    Lol
I had flagged with my wife the idea that if it is a boy, I could buy a birth year watch for him. She liked the idea, until I said that I would wear it until he turned 18/21 whatever. She thought I would just put it aside for him ::facepalm2::

Happy Birthday and congratulations, for the good news. Perhaps, you can start to scout around a vintage Omega watch, for your new member of the family. It is only a suggestion, though.

    Thank-you.

May I ask what size is the strap? I ask because I can see the ends of the spring bars and with a Hirsch Medici you should not, it should fit snug.

Congrats on the watch and the baby...Some years ago I had the same choice; 3k for a vintage watch-or spend it on baby stuff....I bought the watch! My son grew up healthy and happy anyway-and I still have the watch-and it is now worth twice as much.......When he is 18-the watch will be his....

OK, just seems a little loose, perhaps just the image.
