A true, ladies man eh?! I'm sure you'll do very well...::psy:: My new status seems to repell, I guess people don't appreciate forward thinking...

Mothra & I have been to the London ones. He's been to the Birmingham one too, but told me it's pretty similar to the London one. At the last one he picked up his grey Seamaster (?) & I got a cal 752 Dynamic.

There is good stuff to be had there & a ton of stuff you'd never want in a million years. The dealers know what they've got so nothing is going cheap, but you can haggle. It's no different to buying anywhere else, you have to be able to spot redials, know how to tell if something worth having & know how correct the model details are if you want to start haggling.

Stuart, there are dealers who specialise in 20's/30's watches who turn up - so that might be of interest to you as well as the 2 or 3 Omega dealers who turn up.

Is that another "old" joke at Stuart's expense, because if it is I'm cool with it. :D

:D Heard them all, and Mrs comes up with an occasional new one just to keep me in my place.

Sounds as if turning up with an open mind and treating it as a day out is the way to go

It's worth a day out, just for the experience.

Perhaps  I though Stuart had a special interest in that period. But maybe age is catching up with me too ::jumpy::

Birmingham is probably twice the size of the uxbridge fair - but i still find the stuff i like from the same four or five sellers at both. As warren says, the dealers there all know exactly what their stock is worth, so no bargains, but you can knock them down the equivalent of ebay fees, plus you get to handle the purchase, plus you get instant gratification.

its genuinely worth a wander around, especially if you are nearby. I usually do a lap, then a second one to look at the stuff in interested in. A friend who has only ever bought from London shops laughiingly told me to pick out a dynamic for him if i could find one for less than £400 - he was stunned when i sent him pictures of a dozen or so.
