Hi all,

A new one for me. A very good friend of mine and avid collector has just informed me of the following.

He was a member of the above mentioned forum. His account was hacked. When he found out, he informed the forum's administrator about the situation. Their response? "Banned for life"! When he inquired about this, they replied that he could be reinstated if he paid a $10 fee?

Lol, $10. So stupid. I don't own a Rolex, mainly due to the stigma attached to owing a Rolex. I get all Rolex owners are not douche bags, but it is awfully easy to associate douche bag with Rolex owners when I read these types of stories. I actually like their watches, but prefer that not a single person know the price of the watch on my wrist, which is always the case when I wear the Ed White, Straight Writing, Gemini 4, etc. And as far as the 18k Gold Speedy Skeleton I own, I can easily say Invicta when/if that come up.

The trick here is when someone asks you if your Rolex is fake, just say yes.

 

Wow that is a way harsh statement No statistical proof for the Rolex owning-douche bag-connection.

None of the guys I know, who own a Rolex, are douchebags. On the other hand I know a couple of assholes, who wear watches of other brands or no watches at all

If people look at my Rolex and decide I must be a douchebag, that is their choice. I might think they are too for some other reason. I may be proved wrong, if I get to know them better, and so may they.

I do not know enough about TRF to comment on the $10 reinstatement fee.

 

so the account was hacked (exposes lack of security measures for a start) and the admin banned him and asked for a fee?! Lol I'd tell them where to go and walk away.
I requested an exception on another forum to post a sale after 160+ posts (needed 200) / provided feedback from other sales etc and instead got exposed to a barrage of abusive messages from their mod for no reason at all and banned....I was quite upset and disappointed as they acted like North Korean leaders... I am now a happy member of a much more friendly and forgiving forum called Omegaforums.net!

I'm sorry for my ignorance in this matter chaps, but..... what the 'fakk' is a "douchebag"?

 

After the fourth time your new gal stays the night; after she stops asking if she can wear your shirt and, instead, just takes it; after you had to dash to work on Monday morning but she stayed in the house most of the day and took the spare key to lock up when she left; after you find the two top drawers filled with her knickers, shirts and a spare pair of shorts; after flowers appear in the living room and there's a new pot plant on the dining table ... that thing you find hanging in the shower that you really don't want to touch but have to cos you can't work out which way is up... that's a douchebag.

It's also the name given to the guy at the car dealership wearing a two tone sub who sold you the car with a slipping clutch, that they've had back twice but it's getting worse....

I'm more than a little skeptical that this is the whole story. There has to be more to it. And don't the Rolex haters just love these stories. Confirmation bias.
