I'm doing an Ironman in November and would love to hear thoughts on what watch would be a great accomplishment marking watch. Moonwatch is a possibility but it's everywhere.

Is it about just having a fun watch to celebrate, or are you looking to tie it to the event/experience in some way? Like, would something with racing heritage be a good fit? Or, something that has a connection to adventure and exploration?

If you like Speedies, but feel like the standard Moonwatch is too ubiquitous, there are so many variations new and old that could a great memento.

I'm open to suggestions!

I'm not seeing much of a connection between Ironman and the Moonwatch, but if you want a Speedmaster, then it's as good an excuse as any. Personally, it's been over a decade since my first Ironman finish, so I suppose I'm more into the nostalgia of the event. But my choice is the Timex Huckberry reissue.

There is, of course, the Breitling Endurance Pro Ironman:

Also Bravur has a line of cycling-focused chronographs. I'm partial to the La Grande Boucle II myself:

Reason for Speedy was Moonwatch -- Moon shot accomplishment

If you're looking for an excuse for a non-standard speedy:

The 57?

Something targeted at racing (not specifically iron man, obviously):

Be sure to update us with your eventual choice. (And your finish time 😀 )

Easy choice, an ULTRAMAN. Anyone who finishes an Ironman is an ultraman of sorts. And it is a relatively limited edition of only 2012 pieces.

I’ve often wondered why iron men don’t sink during the swimming part and do they end up rustling afterwards?

Will do--the finish time I have absolutely no idea what that will end up being. Could be 12:30 could be 15--depends on the day and what it brings.

lol for this watch I'm less concerned about investment because it's tied so directly to a goal I've set out. If I wanted to park $15,000 somewhere safe then I'd be going Rolex sports watch all the way
