Mainspring died the other day. Looking for a reliable alternative that's cheaper than the $960 quoted by Nesbit's before sending it to them. My local jeweler in Riverdale lost his watchmaker to retirement and says his new guy isn't qualified to do it. My only other experience with watch repairs is with a shop on West 46th Street (whose name is abbreviated by 3 letters) that I don't trust based on 3 previous experiences with simple projects (and some of the horrendous detailed reviews on major projects, notwithstanding many great reviews). I'd rather not mention them publicly because they were very nice to me and did make good on their most recent mistake, albeit at my inconvenience.
