Oh to have a malady that the medicos take seriously, and will actually treat that malady. I have one I have endured now for ten months, and I have had no help at all from two doctors. This problem is not with the prostate, but it is endemic to males (‘nuff said). This malady won’t kill me, and the doctors hope it will solve itself. Because I am an octogenarian, I suspect they think I’ll die from something else, and that will solve a problem for them!

Good news @JimInOz
I had another skin cancer check up and a few biopsies taken only yesterday.
Looks like I have been in a fight with a few scares and a swollen right eye. 😗

A local brewery "Imperial Stout" (11% ABV) for me (first alcoholic drink for a month) and a Blue Tongue G&T for my Darlin'.

I'll sleep well tonight.

No fancy FODMAP dinner tonight.

Just pizza loaded with cheese, and meat, and other good tasting stuff.

I just noticed a post by @Canuck, I thought he was referring to me for a moment, but then I remembered that I don't have a Rolex Oyster Date.

It was a timely reminder though, so I thought I'd update this thread.
After my radiation treatment ended I had to wait for about six weeks for the results of the treatment to be validated (or not).
Got a call from my oncologist late last week and he was very happy with the outcome of the treatment, needless to say, so was I.

The results below speak for themselves and the levels of PSA in my system are expected to decline over time. Next test in January 2024, so fingers crossed.

(Note: I used an older pathology report, latest one isn't on my health record yet).

Figured it might be worth bumping this thread as it appears King Charles III went in for a procedure relating to an enlarged prostate, and subsequently it was found that he had cancer which was note prostate cancer while they were looking around under the hood. Potentially getting his prostate checked still ended up helping him with something tangential.

Hardly worth bumping this thread is it Ash, because we know that all of the blokes on the forum are having regular health checks, including PSA testing.

😗

Coincidentally, my next review is one week away today. fingers crossed.

Good luck Jim. My dad was diagnosed with very early prostate cancer after a psa test so he took swift action and his test for the last two years have been clear.

Good luck, my brother! I have been following this thread with interest and wish you well!

My PSA numbers have been clinically undetectable since I had a prostatectomy in October 2021. My next test is in April.

Well, today was the day.
Just got off the phone. Had a telecon with my specialist for my six monthly review.
More good news, since a course of radiation in July/August last year, my PSA levels have been declining and today it was 0.23!

Another review in six months time, hopefully even further down the scale.

Congrats Jim, fantastic result!

I'm a bit confused by the numbers. My latest result shows a PSA level of 1.0 and an expected range of <5.4 for my age. My medicos are unconcerned so I assume that it's the steady increase that is the concern rather than the number (within reason). That would highlight the need for repeated and regular testing.

It could be the way the lab does the analysis and what method they use. My initial tests in about 2012 were in the 6.7 to 7.2 range which made my GP send me to a specialist who ran more detailed tests.

You're doing the right thing by being aware but not scared of "PSA" and if your MD isn't concerned, sit back and relax.
