    Hi to all,

That there's a trend to hommage/heritage/whatever what you may call it on today watches is a matter we all know. In face of that, what are your favorite diving watches in that league (and under 2.000 €)? I'll let the 6 that come to my mind, hoping to hear from you and to know more suggestions.

    Best regards,

My favorite is a Sinn UX, which thankfully does not pay homage to anyone as far as i know.

    The Rado has:
    - classic black diving bezel
    - anchor symbol
    - actually named "Captain"

How can you get more 'diving' than that? (you have the bezel for diver, anchor to keep the boat in place, the captain to move the boat...)

I see your point. IMHO Sinn are tool watches, and the UX is even more (quartz movement, dives to 5000 meters...), and don´t have that mixture of dive/dress watch like those i refer to.

I'm a large man and an appetite to match, I'm utterly disappointed I missed that additional connection!

Well, they could have ruined it with big blue waves imprinted in the dial as another far more expensive diver recently had... ::stirthepot::

No doubt about it! Let's take a look at a SMPC 300M from 2014 and a new one. And, IMO, it's not only the waves. The new dial as a lot of unnecessary stuff. SMPC 300.jpg

The new hour and (possibly) the seconds hands are the only real improvement, aesthetically speaking (IMO).

    I prefer the Seiko.

    I like the SM waves.

    I also like turtles.

I'm with you. The other introductions (the lines connecting the indexes and the [ZrO2] inscription don't add great value, IMO.

Personally I've never been a fan of the SMPC 300M. The scalloped edges, the bracelet, the hands... just doesn't do it for me. Now that you've shown the lovely Rado, I realize I also much prefer a dial with an anchor, a captain and a cook! ... and at a fraction of the price, how could you go wrong?

For $147.74 USD I was able to get this simple diver (sans anchor, captain, cook) but still a bargain! ::psy::

I like Seiko too. The waves, not so much. As for turtles, I find them too chunky for me to wear.

Also, if anyone listens to Howard Stern, every time someone mentions "turtle" all I can hear is Sal saying "I'm a turtle..."

Nice catch, that Seiko 5. A friend of mine as one and it´s a nice piece for the money (like most Seiko, BTW). Forgetting the Omega (it's from another championship), i love the Rado and i'm sure that the Certina, as soon as it is available, will be a steal.

I'm going to represent the Microbrands here. I started off wanting a beater, so obviously looked at the usual Seikos. Then, pivoting , wanted something a bit different, and came very close to putting money down on the Certina DS as above, but didn't fancy the wait, so swerved to a Squale ( no stock), Helios, Benarus and ended up with a Magrette.
Absolutely love it, also helps me explain a future Panerai as this has a lot of the signals.
OF has a lot of blame here::bleh::

I really like that Rado - for a brand known for their somewhat polarizing designs, I think that's a really handsome and classic looking dive watch. It's also vintage proportioned at a hair under 38mm.

Blame it on me, but I didn't know Magrette. And by the face of your bulldog, I bet he didn't know either!
