Date windows don’t get a lot of love from some collectors, but I just picked up a Polerouter Date and I’m surprised how much I like the date window - it adds to the aesthetic on this watch imo. I thought I’d start a thread highlighting watches with interesting and appealing date windows (they don’t have to be Universal - although I like this Universal). I really like the asymmetric date window.

I also like the date window from the Carrera being sold currently by @ChicagoFrog

i generally find date windows to be an eyesore on almost all dials and really gravitate towards dates that utilize the symmetry of the round dial

    Nomos-Tangente-Neomatic-41-update-10.jpg

This sort of dodges the question... if I had to pick a date window, I do find the outsize date very compelling. absolutely love this look.

The subtle square date window at 6 o’clock on early 1950s Seamaster Calendars classically complement the rest of the dial without overpowering it.

Already love this thread.. The much hated hole in the dial gets too little love ;)
Here's another reference for the date window.

I'm generally not a fan of date windows, either, but when it looks like this one, I don't mind so much:

My apologies for the intruding hairy mess!

One date window I don't mind at all, is the cal. 341 Longines.

The beautiful font within makes quite the difference as well.

I do like those Polerouter date windows.

Date windows get very little love here and the feature is studiously avoided when considering watches for acquisition. To me a date window is a distasteful ulcerated sore ruining an otherwise attractive dial. Worse and worse to accentuate it with a cyclops. I enjoy frequent watch changes through the week, don't consult a watch for the date, and find setting dates to be annoying.

That said, the date window on the Polerouter Date models is distinctly appealing and actually adds much to the watch's styling and charm. I might actually chose a Polerouter Date when I get around to picking up a Polerouter, a watch on my "want list."

The Polerouter date window would look better if located above the 6, instead of at 3. The left and right side of the dial would be symmetrical and the date window would counterbalance the UG logo below 12. Just my opinion but I think dials look better if they are balanced.

The best date window is...a well-executed date register, instead! :D

A clean, unobtrusive 'porthole' date window at 4:30 ain't bad, though...

A nicely beveled window framed in gold like Standy's Zenith isn't so bad. Extra points for the early Seamaster calendars with their date windows at 6 o'clock, or those Longines Flagship models with their date windows at 12:00 o'clock, or Zeniths with date windows at 4:00, or date windows completely out of the numeral marker track, or early date register hands. Porthole date windows such as on that Favre Leuba diver ain't half bad either.

Not my watch, taken from their website, but Lange does beautiful things with date windows - I would suggest it’s their trademark (along with the movement finishing).
