Have a few too many ponies in the paddock and have to thin the herd a bit... but my loss is your gain! 😀

Up for sale is this rare and beautiful circa 1950s Movado chronograph with the famed in-house caliber 95M. The unique chronograph movement was one Movado's last in-house calibers before being pretty much absorbed by Zenith in the early 1960s and turned into essentially a subsidiary brand. It operates in a funky "upside down" manner, with the bottom pusher starting the timer and the top pusher resetting it. Also unusual is that the minute counter is calibrated for a full 60 minutes as opposed to the more common 30-minute register found on most chronos. Further adding to this watch's allure, note that the all-stainless steel screwed case, which features an inner anti-magnetic dust cover, was manufactured by FB (Francois Borgel/Taubert & Fils) who also manufactured water resistant cases for Patek Phillipe, Vacheron and Mido among others.

Overall, this classic Movado chrono is in Excellent+ original vintage condition with a beautiful Near Mint dial that has acquired a wonderful coppery patina and a case that shows little if any polish. To put the cherry on top of this great collectors' piece, this complicated movement has just been completely serviced by my NYC Master Watchmaker for years more of faithful service to its new owner. It will come with a 6-month movement guarantee.

The asking price for this hard-to-find steel Movado chronograph is $2650 USD OBRO, including fully insured FedEx shipping worldwide. Bank Wire always preferred but Paypal OK with split fees (+2% to the buyer) unless by eCheck. Payment must be made in US DOLLARS. Watch will ship upon full clearance of the funds, as well as any necessary bank vetting.

CASE & BACK: Classic and elegant 35mm wide (not including crown) x 44mm long x 11mm tall all stainless steel 2-piece screwed case with faceted lugs and stepped bezel. This case shows little if any polish with sharp edges and undistorted lug holes and shows only minor wear for a 60-year-old watch, with only some minor marks, easily Excellent+ and probably unpolished condition overall. The outer part of the screw in caseback shows some marks to its polygon facets from poor opening technique and some minor scratches but also retains its factory finish, Very Good cosmetic condition.Inner back and the back of the case have no significant corrosion and the inner caseback has all correct Movado brand, model and casemaker hallmarks of the period. The movement is also protected by an anti-magnetic dust cover, which is present and a really cool military-like feature

DIAL & HANDS: All-original beautiful silver dial is Near Mint and has acquired a warm patina, particularly to the engine turned subdials, which cleverly cut into the Arabic quarter numerals at 3, 6 & 9.Original Radium (I think) luminous is intact within the bright arrow markers. Original silver Radium-filled hands are also Near Mint, as are the blued steel sweep seconds and small subdial hands, the hour and minute counter hands a vibrant red.Just a beautiful and elegant chrono layout!

MOVEMENT: Famed in-house Movado caliber 95M column wheel chronograph movement, one of the all-time greats. As stated above, this fine movement was just fully serviced, so of course it runs as it should, with strong power reserve, perfect operation & reset of all chronograph features and all time-setting and winding aspects working according to spec.Needless to say, a serviced chronograph movement represents peace of mind and significant potential future savings, especially for a rare bird like this one, and this watch also comes with a 6-month movement guarantee for all normal, non-abusive use.

CROWN & PUSHERS: Original oversized "mushroom"-type crown and plain pushers in Excellent condition with only minor wear. The push in crown sits flush to the case, winds the movement and sets the time when pulled out exactly as designed. On this fascinating chronograph, the bottom pusher starts & stops the timer and the bottom resets it; both are super crisp and firm.

CRYSTAL: Low dome acrylic crystal is pretty much mark-free with no cracks or chips, easily Near Mint.

STRAP: This Movado comes on really nice genuine leather black Di-Modell rally strap. This great old chrono has a lug width of 18mm.

I make absolutely NO guarantees for the water resistance of this watch due to the dodgy nature of vintage chronographs in general.Feel free to have it pressure tested, however, and we may both be pleasantly surprised. 😉

This great collector's Movado cal. 95M chrono is offered with a 3-day inspection period from the date of receipt and may be returned for a full refund (less any shipping costs incurred by the buyer). This refund is unconditional and once I get the watch back in exactly the same condition as it was sent to you, your money will be refunded. Of course, once the 3 days are over the sale will be considered FINAL.

Thanks for looking,
