Here's a beautiful vintage watch that just doesn't get the wrist time it deserves. My Cyma Navy Star CymaFlex from the early 50's. I'm quite enamored with the dial's multi-faceted arrowhead (or, hearts!) indices, and those gentle, sweeping lugs, with sharp, unpolished chamfers. So, the 35mm case appears to be unpolished... except for the caseback, which has been heavily polished to the point of making it somewhat difficult to read the engravings. The back certainly appears original; I'm thinking perhaps the previous owner used to rub the back for good luck... the way one would rub a rabbit's foot ! I will include the very nice, soft, black Italian leather strap (19mm) you see in the pictures. It has only minimal signs of ever having been worn (subtle creasing). Movement: The clean Cyma 459 inside was last serviced in early 2016, according to the last owner, a HK watchmaker who I know quite well. Timekeeping has been ~+18s over the last 24 hours and is still running strong. Here is the Ranfft description of this beautiful movement: http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?11&ranfft&&2uswk&Cyma_459 Price includes shipping and PP fees for ConUS buyers. Others may inquire, but sale is at my discretion. Sale will be final unless the watch is not as described in this ad. Please see all pictures as they are vital to the description. Please send me a PM here for questions or the need for more pics... thanks for looking!
I've been afraid to bump this one. I fell back in love. But alas, I can't keep them all... BUMP and a price drop!!
Someone please buy this. One of my favorite watches is a much cheaper chrome cased watch very similar to this one and I’ve spent to much on x mas gifts to buy this one.
Excellent watch, Cyma has been around since 1862 and has a great following. The Navy Star is really cool!
We are about the same age......I wish I looked this good! I was in the Army or I'd be all over this! Navy guys have no pride, obviously. What a great classic daily wearer!
We get newbies coming on here with piles of shit they just paid a grand for asking "is this any good?". Why don't they check out this market place, and specifically this watch. It's an excellent choice being a very well respected brand in good condition and at a very reasonable price. Just so nobody thinks I'm pimping this watch, I'd point out the caseback which has had heavy polishing. Most likely because some previous owner, instead of using the correct dodecagonal spanner, tried to use scissors to open the case and scratched the back up, thus the polishing. It doesn't affect the operation or appearance of the watch though, and I think the price has made allowance for this.
