Got myself yesterday this really beautiful 1970 Omega Constellation Chronometer, 1001 movement. great shape, original GREEN dial, crown and buckle. I discovered while in Brussels a very nice, small Vintage watches store, ran by these 2 kind chaps, opened 5 years ago, called VINTAGE TODAY (www.vintagetoday.be), they have a great selection of 200 to 2000 Euros vintage watches which is the range that personally (the 500 to 1000 Euros) I like the best (but I suspect many of us do too.... ), lots of Omega (they also have a repair lab that checks them out all) but also Longines and a few more name brands, including some of the old classic maisons that have disappeared. NICE ! Need to get a new, better strap, thinking of black leather (vintage) or light light brown (vintage style).

i just had a look on a Constellation 168.017 there. Price seems to be a little bit optimistic. The diameter of the watch was described as 40mm. This must be with crown!!
So anybody to buy there please check if the diameter of the watch is described there with crown.

Nice watch! The square dial certainly has a unique feeling. Do you know the case dimensions? It looks larger than the average connie to me but could just be the photos.

thanks, I did get that already, and a lot of debate on the subject, there seems to be an interesting discussion on the 1001, which still is a nice movement, from back the. I found it, along with a lot of interesting stuff, on the specific Constellation website http://omega-constellation-collectors.blogspot.it/ where there is quite a lot of info on the specificsubject.
There is a lot on the web on it, thanks anyway, I also found today many interesting othere websites and references on the Constellation.
As I have also own a nice 1973 Omega Seamaster Cosmic 2000 (with a 1012 caliber, part of the 1000 family, by the way) I am looking for more info on that model too...

Hi Rbob99, here are some pictures I took today, it is a cool watch indeed... shape and color..... very "70's"... ;-) View attachment 227149 20160417_143123.jpg 20160417_143304.jpg 20160417_143342.jpg 20160417_143539.jpg

Hi Cimo, it looks larger than it is.... because my wrist is thin, but it is of a very confortable Case Width without Crown: 33 mm and 35 mm with Chrown. As it is rectangular the Height is 39 mm. The case thickness is 9.5 mm.
The only thing that bugs me is that the strap size is the old 20mm at the lug and 15mm at the buckle. I want to replace the strap with a better one and if I want to keep the Omega buckle that came with it I WILL NOT be able to find a strap with 15mm at the buckle..... .. I tried already with an other watch I have, I had to purchase an other 16mm buckle to get a 20mm - 16mm strap (or I can find 20mm to 18mm at the buckle).... , apparently it is impossible to get 20mm - 15mm straps...

Funky watch! Welcome to the forum. I'd send a PM to forum member @jankoxxx He has a bunch of straps for sale Regina now, but also makes custom straps. I recently bought some shell cordovan straps from him and thyey are beautiful. He's an easy person to work with as well. Good luck!

This may just be my imagination, but shouldn't there be some, you know, screws, in those four screw holes on the back? :)
